My fiance is going to apply for a tourist visa. He applied back in 2012 but was denied. The person who interviewed him never even looked at his papers which proved strong ties to his country. This really upset & disturbed us. Doesn't every applicant deserve a fair shot at a visa? We are nervous to apply again but want to try as he has never been here & has never met my family. Is there anything we could do to help our chances? He's an Indian citizen now living in the UAE. The first time he applied was in India. Any advice would really be helpful, thanks.

He was not the first person had the problem. I was. The CO did not even looked at the bunch of papers I brought and denied me based on I had an exclusive relationship with an American (my now husband) back in 2010. I can't give you more helpful information but he can try again and gather all papers as a proof he has strong ties with his home country.

In the vast majority of cases the decision has been made before you walk in the door, you are just going there to hear what it is. There are edge cases where what you show them makes a meaningful difference, but those are few and far between.

An alien with a US citizen fiancé/e or spouse is always going to have an uphill battle to obtain most types of nonimmigrant visas, and especially a B-2.

What are examples of really strong ties to the home country? Other than having a good job would a lease for an apartment prove anything? How about a car and paying the installments? If there are any other suggestions from anyone It would be very appreciated. Anyone who has been approved for a B2. visa have any helpful info? Thank you

Leases can be terminated, cars sold.

Spouse and children?

You are looking at things that people would not readily abandon, most unusual that there is something you do not have but can suddenly acquire.

Lease is good, as is things you paid for already such as being enrolled in uni, and of course social ties such as minor kids, elderly parents etc.

This post says leases are good. The previous post intimates they aren't. Therein lies the quandary for ANYONE applying,

Clear cut qualifications don't exist; nor should they.

OP, I hope there is a successful outcome.
