His wife had best head for the hills since this incident will cost him the 10 million dollars he would have collected over the next 3 years. He will most likely blame her for the entire matter since he likes to take his anger out on her anyway!

The Cowboys are bringing back one of their players who killed one of his teammates in a drunk driving wreck a few years ago. Granted there's a difference in that Ray Rice didn't kill his girl, but there's intent there. The Cowboy player didn't intend to kill his teammate, yet he's dead because of his negligence.

What really concerns me is that the NFL only made his suspension indefinite only the public had access to the camera footage of the assault from the elevator.

Whether or not you believe that neither the NFL, nor the Baltimore Ravens organisation had seen the footage before TMZ made it public, the details of the incident had been widely reported. Yet it took the video being released for him to be fired and suspended indefinitely. The details didn't change. Only the fact that the public could see him throw the punch. It's a sad indictment of the NFL and the Ravens. :(

I agree. It was not a huge deal if what he did was not seen by the public. But now their "family man" is enemy #1.

The guy should be tried in court.....not by public opinion. Rice violated the domestic violence policy and the two game suspension was handed out....but now he is gone for life. He didn't even do anything else in the meantime.

Plus I find it laughable that the NFL dislikes all kinds of violence. That's what football is all about.

There's a difference between having football players who are all pretty big dudes in pads and helmets etc whacking each other by choice, and some defenseless girl probably a third of the guys weight getting knocked out cold. I suppose you could consider them both violence, but in my mind they're not even close to the same thing.

Even though you "lied" about what I said......I forgive you.

Here is a tidbit. Domestic violence increases on Sunday afternoons during football season.

Some interesting comments about the situation:

PITTSBURGH -- Just hours after the Web site TMZ posted a surveillance video that showed Ray Rice punching in the face his then fiance, now wife, Janay Palmer, in an Atlantic City hotel elevator last February, the Baltimore Ravens released the running back.

Rice missed the Ravens season-opening game Sunday and would have been absent again Thursday night against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers while serving a two-game, NFL-mandated suspension. Now, his future in the league is in doubt.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin and veteran cornerback Ike Taylor would not comment on the situation, but since domestic violence hits painfully close to home for cornerback Will Gay he had quite a bit to say.

"First, and foremost, I'm totally against domestic violence,'' Gay said. "My mom passed away from domestic violence. So, that was wrong of him (Gay starts to tear up). But, at the end of the day, you don't need to run away from Ray Rice. He needs help. So, we've got to do everything we can do to help him.

"This just lets you know that domestic violence is real, and it's real in the NFL. And we need to get help. We're not immune to it. So, the best of luck to Ray Rice. I'm praying for him and his wife. They're in a tough situation, and we just hope he comes out great and becomes better, becomes a better person.''

Gay didn't believe a longer suspension should even be the issue.

"It's all about getting him help,'' Gay added. "It's bigger than that. My mom passed away. We're not talking about a game. She lost her life, so that's the help that I'm talking about.''

Steelers strong safety Troy Polamalu had several comments as well after noting that he had seen the new video footage that showed Rice knock Ms. Palmer out cold, drag her limp body from the elevator and kick at her to try to revive her. Since Rice was released after the media had left the Steelers locker room, none of the players commented on that part of it.

"Unfortunately, I've seen the video,'' Polamalu said. "But I have a lot of issues of my own that I deal with. In truth, I couldn't judge him on anything, because I'm defiled by as many passions and sins and more than him, most likely.

"I have my own struggles. And, obviously, he's got his own struggles. And we all have our own struggles. So, I can't look past my own struggles to judge him.''

Polamalu also was asked to address domestic violence.

"It's a horrible issue that people have to deal with,'' Polamalu said. "I'm very blessed to have been married for almost 10 years now. I have a wonderful wife, and I'm so thankful for that. But it's an unfortunate issue that couples have to deal with.''

I can't decide if the comments by these players are incredibly mature or just total BS.

By the way, I understand that using red text is a very important part of posting now. I'll try to use it as often as possible.

Most folks in the limelight don't want to say either way; due to issues of their own they don't want anyone to see or once you condemn someone that's popular, you become unpopular. It's sad that we can't speak out on something so wrong.

It was a complete BS PR move. Video or not they knew what happened. I clearly remember the 'dragged her motionless body from the elevator' during the original stories of the incident. The ravens just unveiled a statue of ray lewis of all people.

We have a long history of idolizing the wrong people in this country. Sports stars shouldn't be anywhere near the top of the list.
