Hi, hoping someone on here can answer my question. My husband's file has been sent from NVC to the consulate in Sydney. Do we now need to complete and submit the DS-230 Part I and II and DS-2001 (?) immediately or do we wait to hear from the consulate? Additionally, would you advise we book the medical appointment now or wait until we receive the letter from the consulate. Any information, advice, or suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!!

All you dealings now will be with embassy. I would shoot them off an email as to what is next.

The DS-230 is no more. You would be submitting the DS-260 which is online. And there is no DS-2001

Not sure about your country if you need interview letter to have medical or what. I would check with the doctors that do the medicals and find out (unless someone has already said so . I am late answering things sorry).

I'm not sure if it varies by practitioner, but the Bridge St clinic in South Melbourne doesn't require case complete, an interview, or any consular correspondence for the medical my husband had his done last week without issue.

Echoing Meehan. You just need your Case Number! It took 4 days for my spouse to get her results (in Brisbane). We live about 1.5 hours south of Brisbane - so we were glad we could take the train into the city to pick up the results!

Perhaps I wont find anyone whose been through the interview process here already. But I want to ask couple questions anyway.

First, Will we need to bring additional proof of marriage if it wasnt requested?

Second, Will they do the antibody titers blood tests at the appointed medical check-up place or should we get them done before going there?

Visa in hand!! 4 days after interview, even though ustraveldocs still shows no update status !!! Nonetheless, happy and excited this is over. Now we just have to deal with O'hare POE!

Some good news here too, visa arrived yesterday but had to pick it up today at the post office, fee is paid and Monday can come.

I didn't find that getting an ITIN was difficult at all. It just took a long time. Like 3 months. The fact that filing has taken 1 year, it was worth it to collect the extra money on my tax return. Especially because I'm the only one working.

I thought it was easy as well. I had my wife sign the application and sent a copy of her passport and marriage license as well. They were quick and even mailed the copies back! It was nice to get a refund instead of having to pay. We sent the application at the same time I did taxes and they issued the ITIN at the same time.

It's always good to hear the opposite view and I'm glad that some of you found the ITIN application process to have been straightforward. The IRS sent my wife's ITIN notification to the wrong address and it was lost, so I'm glad we did not chance sending in her passport.

I think most of us would agree there should be a reasonable process for the NRA spouse of a USC to be granted an ITIN. This is needed not only for tax purposes, but also to open retirement bank accounts, and to list spouses as beneficiaries on US financial assets.

Personally, I feel the new IRS processes are unreasonable in at least some situations, but I accept that not everyone shares that view.

As it is clearly off topic for this thread now, this will be my last post on the topic here. If anyone wants to debate ITIN application processes and requirements in the future, we can always start a new thread!

The best thing I can tell you is go to your countries informatoion portal here http://www.visajourney.com/portals/index.php?country=Turkey and read the consular reviews see what others did. maybe PM them and ask.

Most people take up to date evidence. If you took another trip to each other during this process. Maybe more call logs, emails. It's all about your comfort zone. They aren't going to request you bring more evidence to prove you are in a relationship/marriage that is on you to determine. Most do not go empty handed.

Also on the page you see the embassies click on yours and scroll done to medicals to find the doctors who do medicals for that embassy. As far as the antibody test that's not given to everyone one. The doctor ask questions about childhood illnesses and such and based on what you answer they will administer the vaccines. If you have a shot record bring it some doctors take them some don't. Most people just get the 3 shots anyway.

There's no getting it done before hand the medical physicians have to do all that.
