Thanks Sap283! Yes his interview will be at Bombay. We received COA and email from NVC sometime mid-Feb, and I paid AOS FEES the next day. Today, I paid IV fees and now I will just wait to see when the fee receipt will be available so my son can fill out his DS-260 online.

Great, I know NVC requests copies of civil/financial documents; NVC requested original BC for someone I know. Are you planning to submit originals or copies to NVC? If you submit originals to NVC, would NVC forward all those documents to consulate or return to Agent and/or discard it?

I think NVC requests originals for certain visa categories, but rarely for F2B. I was asked to submit only copies (which I did) and the original birth certificate, police verification certificate & passport should be taken to the interview. NVC no longer asks for originals.

HI! My name is april from the Philippines and my priority date is 12MARCH2010 with preference category of F2B.

The Consulate sent me a letter last September 2010 regarding my Case number.

I would like to ask because i just saw in the US consulate website regarding the ff:

One Year Contact Requirement

After you receive notification that the NVC is processing your case, you must contact them at least once a year. If you do not contact the NVC for one year, all documents and fees on your case will expire and you must resubmit them to resume processing.

If my parents wasn't able to follow up then that means that my petition is now invalid.?

attached is the NVC's message when i checked my case status, what does it mean literally.?

It really makes me sad. can anyone please help me with this.

I am currently living and working in Dubai would it be possible to forward my petition from the philippines to here.?

I will wait for anyone's help. Please kindly reply. Thank you very much.

Hi April,

I have the same question...my son PD is Dec2010 and we haven't heard from NVC since two years ago telling us our visa is not available. I look up NVC's "one year contact requirement" again, it says.

Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) section 203(g) provides that the Secretary of State shall terminate the registration (petition) of any alien who fails to apply for an immigrant visa within one year of notice of visa availability.

I think that means only when the visa become available starts to count for 1 year??

Hi Qoo,

Don't worry, your son's PD is quite far off as the NVC is only looking at cases with PD of Sept -Oct 2008. These are likely to become current in the next visa bulletin i.e. the May 2015 bulletin. Your visa availability depends on your chargeability area which means if it is under China, India, Mexico, Philippines, or Rest of the world. You can call NVC or email them and they will definitely reply.

Chubbs,

My daughter priority date is November 5, 2008 (F2B). When do you think I will hear from NVC

Hi Hamida,

You can expect it to be current by June or latest by July 2015. This is because the F2B category moves forward by 4 to 8 weeks each month. Currently it is at 22 Aug 2008 thats why Vctrokoye will be current next bulletin ( his PD is 20 Sept 2008). So if you are lucky and the F2B category moves 2 months in the June 2015 bulletin, your daughter will be current then. You can expect to hear from NVC over the next couple of months.

If case will be current in May, when will I go for interview? I live in Canada

Hey Vctrokoye,

You better make your travel plans, as soon as you fill out your DS-260 online. If you miss the interview date scheduled by NVC, you may have to request them for another date, which can cause delays. That will depend on how busy the US consulate in your home country is.
