Thank you Dohan!

Got married two weeks ago and waiting for my marriage certificate to get in so I can send my paperwork.

I went for my SSN last week and everything went smoothly! But I do recommend printing the page from the forum about SSN for K1 because the agent was confused!

This is the checklist i made for AOS. I put notarized on most copy's since notarized copies at my finance's bank are free of charge. So i figured why not get them, it couldn't hurt. But you don't have to have them notarized.

And if you dont have enough proof of living together or joint accounts it doesn't matter. Because you are not proving your relationship. That comes when you have your AOS interview.

But if you include as much as you can and have. You might get a waiver for the interview.

This is the checklist i made for our personal situation.

ok so here is an update on my husband and I......

we got married MARCH 20, 2014.

we had our interview Sept. 4, 2014

we have YET to have any information regarding approval.

While we had our interview, the officers asked us to submit more info. We did! got it certified mail however there is no records by the USPS that the info was received.

I have called regarding my case to see if they can tell me if they even received the paper work and yet no1 can tell me.

SO... that means my husband and I are still waiting for approval.

I work at an ASC and even I can't get info! after speaking with an officer that works in my Dept. he said the best thing I could do was schedule an INFO PASS and request an APPT. to see whats going on.

Also, since my husbands work authorization expires in AUG of 2015 I was told that he would have to renew it in JUNE to be in the safe side if we still had not heard anything of his case.

is anyone else going through the same thing?

ugh I hate this waiting.. but it sure is better waiting together rather than us being apart in 2 different countries :(

Folks, to relieve the pressure I have it on 100% good authority that proof of relationship (ie wedding photos, joint bank account) does not need to be provided until you're at the interview point. I am telling you this because many of us will opt out for the city hall wedding and file AOS as soon as possible to avoid our new husband/wife being out of status.

Remember, the moment the I-94 expires your spouse is at that point considered out of status. Actually filing AOS cures that, however this is crucial to know since many of us will be applying for an AP and it is not advisable to travel on an AP, even after it has been granted if at any point the adjusting individual was out of status. So with marriage certificate and basic docs (tax documents and USC petitioner proof of income), you're good to file the AOS. Also, in the line under SS# on the I-485 you can write "will apply" if your spouse does not have one yet at the time you submit docs for AOS.

I now have a question as to the taxes. In 2012 I did not file taxes because I was a student in UK, and my taxes for 2013 and 2014 are too low. I did however, start a new job this week and by the time we do AOS I will have 3 months worth of paystubs. Do you guys think I should be ok without a co-sponsor? At my curent job I will be making above the required amount for 2 people. I am just worried about my previous income tax reports.
