Embassy Review : Reading reviews & as everyone says - I took the trip up to London the night before my interview and stayed at the Royal Eagle hotel by Paddington. I got up at about 6am, showered/ ate (though its near impossible as you're on edge) and had a quick (15-20 min) walk through Hyde park to get to the embassy.

I arrived at the Embassy at about a quarter to 7 and the queues had already started to form! At 7am The staff outside started splitting people into 3 distinctive lines, and following advice asked a couple of staff members if I was in the right line - I was so I stayed put. As it turned out ours was the only line that moved during my time outside the embassy. You walk up to a lady sitting on a table who checks your appointment letter and passport before sending you to line up outside the security checkpoint where they again check your details.

- The staff the whole time were very friendly and even cracked a few jokes! -

At security they x-ray'd my coat and electronics (I took in my iphone, charger and cable) took about 15 seconds before they sent me through to the embassy where you meet staff inside the embassy who put a sticker on the back of your passport thats your 'call number' - it has a letter and number code to signify your number in the queue and visa type. I was the second person in on a K1 so they said my stay would be brief!

I sat down and made friends with some people closeby but after about 4 minutes was called up to submit fingerprints, my police certificate, proof of employment (for me and my fiance) and my passport. This was via the Chinese lady who was *lovely* and I know some people have had difficulty hearing her but she said her coffee had kicked in so I could hear her loud and clear! she gave me a CD of my chest xray, some paperwork and told me to relax.

I sat back down, waited about 15 minutes and was called up for the interview. This was in a slightly different, more quiet part of the embassy but same principle (glass, microphone and speakers), The interviewer was a really nice guy who was getting a briefing from another member of the consular staff so it gave me a chance to relax slightly and take off my coat.

He shared a joke with me, asked me how I was (nervous was my answer) and he laughed and said there was nothing to fear. He asked me how I met my fiance and where I worked (media industry), asked me a few questions about my employer and where I planned to live with my fiance (mainly out of curiosity than anything) gave me this huge beaming smile and said I was approved, I'd get my passport back in 2 weeks and asked me to have a fantastic life with my fiance and enjoy everything the states had to offer!

I asked if I was OK to leave and he said yes go and enjoy London, so I left!

The wait outside the embassy was by far the longest part of the visit but took no more than 45 minutes from start to finish - turning up early definitely played its part, so I got home - drove to work and resigned so I could start packing for the US & be with my love!

All in all, the staff were very friendly and accommodating and made a nervy experience as pleasant as possible.

I found a video on YouTube a few days before I went, made by the embassy on what to expect - if you search for London embassy it should pop up!

A few bits have changed but for the large part its the same!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
