The wiki does not say anything about the police certificate expiring in 90 days. How will this affect the process? We got the certificate 2 weeks ago and just had our noa2 two weeks ago.

What do you recommend?

Haaa! It's working now :)

yay!:) Although I still get this:

Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please contact the National Visa Center if you believe that you have received this message in error.

I just want to fill in the DS261 asap, oh well. I see that many people have been able to on the same day as their case number receipt, and others have several days delay. Hopefully it's available soon.

Hey Saylin

Thought I'd pop back over here and ask you a quick question if you don't mind...

Basically we are all complete at NVC and have an interview date in May. I'm just looking over all our AOS paperwork and getting my folder together for the interview. We received a checklist from NVC last month saying the income on the 1-864EZ did not match the income on the most recent tax return (2013). It was basically a few cents out because the Tax return only lets you round up to nearest dollar. We corrected this and sent a new I-864EZ which was accepted by NVC. I have just realised that my wifes returns for 2011 and 2012 are also a few cents out for the exact same reason. NVC did not mention these in the checklist and only reffered to the lastest (2013 in our case). Can we assume that it will not matter going forward to the interview that the 2011 and 2012 returns are a few cents out? I am guessing this will be fine as they are not even required.

Thanks very much!

If it ends up being a problem, they can correct it at the interview. Or, if you wish, bring a corrected I-864EZ to the interview and just keep it in your folder unless they request it.

If we are able to pay our AOS today or tomorrow, and send out the AOS package once the monies are taken from the account... and we use the 2012/2011/2010 years for taxes... does the stamp/mailing date prior to April 15 mean we're ok to use those years? Or is it when they input the AOS into the system (which could end up being after the 15th and we'd get checklisted for the updated 2013 tax information)?

We're right on the cusp of being able to use 2012, and I'm hopeful we get the form in just in time to beat the tax deadline.

We sent our AOS package last week from abroad (and as it's terribly SLOW, it is likely to arrive right before the deadline). We sent it anyway because the joint-sponsor didn't file his 2013 taxes yet. On the cover letter we wrote that as the tax deadline is on April 14th, the updated I-864 and the 2013 tax transcripts will be brought to the interview. I don't think they are that meticulous about the 2013 tax returns as it's around the deadline. So if it arrives before the deadline, I would be very surprised if they send you a checklist for this!

And for the error message, it means you will be able to file the DS-261 very soon and to pay the AOS fee! I would prepare everything and send it right after the fee is paid to beat the deadline :) Good luck!

In I-864EZ in #19, if you did enter the Federal Income Tax info for three years, and sent them (NVC) copies of last three years transcripts, then the numbers should match exactly with Adjusted Gross Income on IRS 1040EZ. So carrying an amended I-864EZ to the interview would be the best bet. Why give them a reason for delaying the process? Hope this helps.

P.S. After I posted it I noticed Ms Saylin already responded (pretty much the same answer). Guess who I learnt from....:) :) I am so relieved she is around and helping all of us.

Thanks bkghosh, my wife files with 1040 not 1040EZ so shes used total income, but yeah get what you're saying. We will bring along a form with all the amounts matching. At this rate I'm going to have several forms for them to chose between! haha I'm hoping they don't mind. As long as one is correct then that's all that matters right!?

The wiki does not say anything about the police certificate expiring in 90 days. How will this affect the process? We got the certificate 2 weeks ago and just had our noa2 two weeks ago.

What do you recommend?

Validity isn't mentioned because it varies from country to country. But the police certificate isn't sent in until you submit your IV docs, which will probably be a couple of months from NOA2. You'll be cutting it very close if it is still valid when you need it. To be safe you should plan on needing to get a second one.

Once you confirm that NVC has received your packet and shortly before you project getting your case # then start acquiring civil docs.

Other members from Peru have used MAC http://www.mac.pe/tramites-para-personas/

You can also get birth certificates, divorce certificates, and marriage certificates there.

This should put you in the proper time frame to avoid the 90 day expiration issue.

Finally the case is moving! I just mailed out my AOS package!

How will I know when they approve the AOS package and the DS-261?

Soon after NVC reviews and approves the DS-261, the IV invoice is generated (Yellow Triangle), and then eventually becomes available to be paid in a day or two. You have to call them to know whether they actually received the AOS package (touched it) and whether they approved it. Give them at least a week or 10 days for doing that.

What do you recommend?

So your current police certificate will expire around June 25th. If you are able to submit your IV packet to NVC at least 30 days prior to expiration date, then you should be ok (just my opinion). If not, then you will need to get a new one. I say 30 days based on the time it takes NVC to review documents.

Also, if it expires prior to your interview date, you will need to get a new one to present at the embassy.

Hey guys,

My wife needed to get her passport updated with spouses name in order to get PCC (a little strange). At the NVC stage when we submit the passport, is it okay to submit the old passport since the new one is in processing, and show the new one at the interview? Or should I wait for the new one to be completed and then submit that one?

First of all, my wife got her PCC from RPO -Kolkata (last month) w/o needing to change her passport. However, she did apply for the PCC as Married and did show her marriage certificate. I asked her to get 2 copies of the PCC. Once she sent me (petitioner) which I included with the IV package. The other she is keeping to be carried to the interview.

However, later I found out from NVC Filers - March 2014 thread, that for India (and maybe Pakistan, too) NVC is not insisting on the original PCC. A copy of the PCC is fine to be sent in to NVC as long as the original is shown at the time of interview.

Saylin,

I am checking your packet IV wiki,

"

Please read the link here [19] for additional documents if applicable (such as petitioner documents in IR-5 cases or divorce/military records or proof of permanent residency, etc)."

questionIs: Do we need to include PETITIONER'S DIVORCE " along with the packet iv?
