Awww tears reading this at work. (but happy tears) No fair. This is a wonderful testament to your love, endurance and tenacity.

You are such a wonderful woman, encourager and I am just thankful and grateful that you have been blessed and show us how it really is and can be.

I am not losing faith and hope. So Thank you for reminding us there are great people out there.

Deb, you have been there with me along this long journey. I thank you! Thought I would share our positive outcome after such a long journey. Everyone deserves to be happy. One has to use their common sense and logic when choosing a mate. Regardless of the differences it could WORK if it is meant to be and chosen carefully.

Please remember not to sell yourselves short when picking a mate! It should be a two way relationship, give and take. If from the get go it is not mutual? then I say walk away and find one that is. Life is too short to waste on the unworthy.

I wish you and everyone in our Nigerian/African portals happy endings.

thank you, and yes i do believe in long distance relationship, and i know that if it's the one god has destine for you, it will surely work out in jesus name

God gives us the mind and free will to choose and make the right choices in life. He guides us but he expects us to be alert and wise. Destiny is in our hands once we realize that we can choose what is rightfully ours and makes us happy. Good luck!

As the resident naysayer to suspicious relationships ( including being poked by other senior members that don't want to be hated by Nigerian posters the way I am ) my own relationship probably has more red flags than most and we have passed the 4 years in the US mark, he has his citizenship and we are about to start working on the chores he has at home. We survived the immigration process and several major issues on both sides of the ocean. Honesty is the key and secrets is the killer of all relationships.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Glad to hear things have been going well for you as well. The key is honesty and transparency. I know it seems like a painful thing to say, but time is of essence and when a relationship goes through trials and obstacles, one will know what the other is made of?

Congratulations and continued success!

Dear VJ friends,

It has been about 9 months since my husband arrived from Nigeria. I wanted to update you on our relationship status, and remind those who feel that majority of these long distance relationships fail once the beneficiary is here.

It took us almost five years to finally be together. It was a long process, one worth all the wait now that he is here. I speak for both of us when I say, our adjustment to each other has been a very successful one. He has been the most loving, caring and wonderful human being that he was then and continues to be to date. I could not have asked for more loving partner.

It is a myth when people generalize all relationships with red flags as failures. WE are proof of its success and that not every Nigerian is in this VJ just to get here and receive a GC or citizenship in the USA. Commitment and mutual respect has, and continues to be the key to our relationship and marriage. I just want to let others know although there are bad people in this world...good ones do exist. Choose your mate carefully using your head first, then let your heart give away your love. Respect yourself and know your worth and don't settle for anything less than what you deserve and makes you happy.

Best of luck to those who are still waiting for the VJ to end. Blessings!

My dear friend, it has been a delight to witness your happiness, laughter, fun and just simple 'togetherness.'

You have mutual respect for one another and that definitely helps. I love you both dearly. It has been a very long and exhausting

journey for you both and now you are enjoying the reward of your endurance.

Happy 3rd Anniversary :goofy::energy: and lots of hugs.

We often only hear one side of the story when a marriage fails, so it is refreshing to hear from those who as happy as you both are

and come back to share this with us.

God truly knew what He was doing when He joined the two of you together. May He continue to bless you both on the years to come. You never forget where it all began, the trials and tribulations... And I thank you for remembering us that may be just at the beginning, middle or end of this journey. Because of you I know there is a happy ending to it all... Btw happy anniversary!!! :)
