I hope this thread is allowed since its sort of off topic..........

I'm sure anyone on this forum is most likely waiting for some part of their process whether it be NOA1, NOA2, Packet 3 or 4, or your interview and it can be a little depressing having your life basically held in someone else's hands. I thought we could share the stories of how we met our significant others to sort of lighten the mood and get to know our fellow "waiters"

Here's mine:

Andre and I actually met in 2002 on MSN Messenger. He was searching for an old classmate of his with the same first name as mine and stumbled across my profile. For some reason, he still doesn't know exactly why, but he decided to send me an email (*fate*) heart.gif and was actually kind of mean about it. He said things like "you think you're better than everyone" or "you're just a rich girl"...judging me just off of my pictures only. I received his email and thought, who the heck does this guy think he is?, so I emailed him back. From there we started emailing each other everyday which turned into calling each other everyday. At this point, we were both really young and we did meet twice in person, but eventually went our separate ways to live our lives.

I ended up getting married to someone else in 2006 and had my beautiful daughter in 2008. Things started to head south in 2011 and we divorced in 2012. Andre never married anyone else, but had many relationships.

I found him on facebook and sent him a private message while my divorce was still being finalized. I did not have the intention of getting back together with him, I just wanted to see how he was doing and catch up. He was very surprised to hear from me and just got out of a 2 year relationship himself. We started talking everyday again just like old times. It wasnt long until our spark was back and we realized that we should try to make this work. From that point on, we've had 6 visits ranging from 1 week to 1 month each. He proposed October 2013. We spent the next couple months doing research and deciding the best course of action to be together until we finally decided to do the K-1 so here we are. smile.png We sent our petition mid February and received NOA1 2-27-14.

I would love to hear anyones story that is willing to share!

Good luck on your journey!

We met online while I was researching for a trip to Europe. I was planning to visit Denmark, Germany, and also Prague, but I wanted a local's perspective on things to do, so I found a pen-pal site. Even though I wasn't looking to go to Ireland, he popped up on a search I'd done. I wrote to him, and after a couple days, he wrote me back. We hit it off immediately. From there it progressed to longer, more frequent emails. Within about 10 days I knew I wanted to meet him in person and invited him to meet me in Berlin for NYE (this was still a few months from my trip). About a month after that, we agreed to switch my plans to include his town, Dublin, instead of Berlin. We had an amazing time together, and both knew that we wanted me to move to Ireland or him to move to California. After much debate, we chose here, and began the process. :)

I can't wait to be a family. <3

I was doing a six month internship in silicon valley last year when I saw this cute guy in the train to work one day. I was somehow fascinated. And he noticed me too! He started saying "Hello" every morning, when he passed with his bike. Over at least two month I secretly looked for him at the train station every day... but I was too shy to say anything. Finally he made the first move and sat next to me on a friday evening. We went out that night, despite the fact, that I was leaving two weeks later and we were both not interested to start something. We fell almost immediately for each other and spent every bit of time left together. None of us wanted a long distance relationship, but we just couldn't stop loving each other... and here we are =)

Abby88, that is some amazing fate right there!! Sounds like he must have changed his mind about you being just a rich girl :)

1kiki, very cute, congratulations! (btw your username reminds me of that line in Shakira's song "Loca")

Tina and Johan, that is awesome, I've never even heard of a pen-pal site! they ought to link directly to visajourney hahaha

Ben + Michelle, yeah people don't typically go looking for a LDR but you can't stop love

My fiance and I met in a competitive online video game. About 3 years ago, I hadn't played it in months and one day I was just really bored and decided what the hell... I'll play a match. When I got in I heard everyone on my team speaking Spanish, which I was learning in college at the time, so I kept in touch with them to practice my Spanish. I got to know one of the guys really well and realized he was ideal for me. And the rest is history :)

We met in 2005, in my home country. At the restaurant :D I happened to be there on a late business coffee with two other ladies. The waiter brought me a bunch of roses 'from the gentleman sitting behind my table'... Wow! As I didn't dare to turn around and look who the person was, he himself came up to our table and introduced himself. I am smiling while writing this. We had a nice chat, he walked me to my car as I was ready to go home. Exchanged telephone numbers. I wasn't planning to call or receive a call as I had this stereotype: "you can't meet a decent man at the restaurant/bar". It turned out differently to my surprise, we started a nice friendship (yes, friendship), went to some restaurants, visited some events in town, I invited him to my house for lunch, introduced him with my parents and my son.

After a few months he had to leave back to the states. There was a sparkle from both sides, but none of us were ready for a long distance relationship I guess. So, no promises, just e-mails (to be exact 2746 emails), some cards, few phone calls. It lasted until 2011. I was going to have my vacation and fly to Dublin (was working in the UK then), he offered to join me. Wow! After 5,5 years! So we met in Dublin and we are almost inseparable since then. We came back to my home country to see my family again... So funny :) Here we go - we are going to get married in May.

Hope my story wasn't boring :)

I met my fiance while he was in NJ on a student visa. We actually met on the internet and then met in person. We were together as much as possible between September 25th and November 19th when he had to return to India. Then I wen to visit him February 13th to February 22nd. Submitted the paperwork once I returned to NJ. Depending on the length of the process I might be going back to visit him in August.

This is totally off topic...My fiance is driving himself crazy. He feels as if getting the visa approved is like winning a lottery or a competition. I don't think its that big a deal. Any opinions?

I felt like that too at first, but from reading testimonials on these forums, it seems like if you have a legitimate case and do what you're supposed to, eventually it'll work out.

Timeline

My story is somewhat tragic, still I would like to share it.

I am a K-1 visa girl myself, but my marriage has collapsed. I still feel betrayed.

I married my American husband, being genuinely in love with him. I still treat him well as a friend. But as a man of my life he deeply disappointed me.

We met over the internet, and some time after coming to the States and getting married I figured out, Internet relationships and virtual sex were remaining his favorite occupation during his spare time. Also, he was watching a lot of porn and masturbating instead of having sex with me. Whenever caught red-handed, he would swear to God that was the last time he was doing that. But then he would do that again and again trying to keep it as a secret from me, until I would catch him again.

In July 2013 we bought a new house. It had been our dream for years, before that we had been living in a rental apartment . I was feeling like all my dreams have come true, especially because while moving my husband got rid of his storage of porn videos and Play Boy magazines, that he had been keeping for years, and promised to me that the new place we were moving in would be totally porn free.

We invited a friend of ours, an orthodox bishop, to bless the house with his prayers. We had a housewarming party with all our friends. That was in early September. I was absolutely happy and satisfied with my life.

Until that horrible night in late October 2013.

I was working on the telephone until 11 pm – it was very common that I worked late hours, because my intention was to pay off our mortgage as soon as possible.

At 9:30 I had a short break. I felt like having a moment of tenderness with my husband, so, I went to our bedroom. The door was locked. I knocked. There was no answer. I knocked again. After a minute or so my husband unlocked the door. He was looking embarrassed. The TV screen was dark, though before I knocked, I heard it was on. I understood everything – he was doing IT again….

I was shocked… I felt like all my dreams were collapsing. I ran out of the bedroom screaming: “I will cheat on you, you dirty perv!” That’s how much I wanted to hurt him.

We weren’t talking for a couple of days. I was feeling desperate and betrayed. It was only because of that feeling that I responded to a handsome guy from the country of Georgia, who wrote to me in the social network. Before that I never responded to men's likes. Or I would write something like: "I love my husband and I only take kisses from him. That’s how I met Nodar.

I never expected that, but he brought me back to life. His tender love and overwhelming passion rescued me, when I was already considering if my life was worth living.

In a couple of weeks after meeting we both were deeply in love. We were spending days and nights in Skype, we could not be without one another anymore, so, we decided to meet in person as soon as possible and In January 2014 we did so.

Now my life is back. I moved on, as well as my future ex-husband, who let me go without much grieve. I believe, he is even happier now, left alone with his porn.

As a reward for me being loyal to my ex-husband, even though he was not, the relationship I am having now with Nodar is the best I’ve ever had. I’ve never loved more, never had such affection and passion, and he feels the same.

We really hope to be together in the States before the end of this year.wub.png
