2 random questions.

1. Once AOS and IV package is sent how long does it take to hear back about a scheduled interview? (mine's going to the Dominican Republic)

2. When is the $985 fee due? Before or after the interview?

I just called NVC and they received the case!!!! Hopefully get a case number sooner than later

I called today around 745am since I have same NOA2 date and from NCS, they told me it takes 6 weeks, how did you ask them, because i know it takes time to scan them into the system and that when you get your numbers,,,

I had an interview today and my visa is approved.

I don't know how I could go through this by myself.

I had a joint sponsor (father in law) to fulfill the AOS requirement.

His income was enough for the poverty line so his wife (mother in law) did not believe I needed her I-864A even though they filed tax joint because the instruction said no need to fill I864A if the joint sponsor has enough income.

I convinced her to send me her I864A so that I can show it at the embassy if they ask me, just in case.

And they did told me that I needed her I864A since they filed tax joint.

If I did not find VJ, I never knew they require I864A for my case.

It was not easy, but it would have been harder without VJ and VJ members!

I didn't ask anything. It was a lady on the phone that picked up the call and asked for my receipt number and I gave it to her. She told me that they received the case and will assign the case number soon by up to 30 days. Did they receive you case yet because case number will be assigned after that. I am going to call back tomorrow again if i get a change. You should keep calling them too..

I talked to JR this morning and told me that I can call as much and as often as I want to check on the status of my application.

Has anyone had the IV bill/DS-260 made available in the past few days? Just trying to get an updated estimation of where the NVC is at in processing these.

As of recently they have been quoting 30 business days which is approximately 6 weeks from the time that they receive the case at the NVC.

Not me. I've been watching you, though. I know that we did the DS261 at about the same time. I think BOS and Hotter Otter are about the same as well. I'll let you know when I can access either.

Two questions:

A joint sponsor can be anyone who agrees to support the immigrant, right? My understanding is that it does not have to be a relative or someone in the household, but while going over the forms with my joint sponsor this weekend, he made me second-guess that... My joint sponsor is my mother's boyfriend- they never married nor do they live together but he has been a father to me for a long time. There is no legal record of their relationship nor anything for me to use to prove our relationship (besides the fact that he's listed as the preparer of my taxes since he's also my accountant )- so he will seem like a random choice... will this cause any problems in the NVC process? or will they not care so long as someone agrees to be financially responsible?

My joint sponsor also only wants to give his most recent tax transcript and will not include an employment letter. Obviously I can't force him to give all 3 and he feels the letter is unnecessary because he's been at the same job for 10 years with the same salary; which is well above the poverty line. I am hoping if he only sends the 1 transcript without employment letter and the transcript is the same as his current income and the same income as the many years before listed on the I-864, that the NVC won't checklist us for more evidence. Is that risky? Thoughts?

The case is only shipped to the consulate/embassy AFTER an interview date is scheduled.

And I suppose that's okay, but how do you expect to support your wife with no job?
