7 in 10 felons register as Democrats

new study of how criminals vote found that most convicts register Democratic, a key reason in why liberal lawmakers and governors are eager for them to get back into the voting booth after their release.

“Democrats would benefit from additional ex-felon participation,” said the authoritative study in The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science.

The authors, professors from the University of Pennsylvania and Stanford University, found that in some states, felons register Democratic by more than six-to-one. In New York, for example, 61.5 percent of convicts are Democrats, just 9 percent Republican. They also cited a study that found 73 percent of convicts who turn out for presidential elections would vote Democrat.

But despite recent moves in states to notify convicts that they can vote again, the study finds little evidence that they do, undercutting Democratic efforts to get them to the polls.

The study looked at three states which are reminding convicts that they can vote after leaving jail: New York, New Mexico and North Carolina.

They provided the following Democrat-to-Republican breakdown in felon party registration patterns:

– New York: 61.5 percent register Democratic, 9 percent register Republican

– New Mexico: 51.9 percent Democratic, 10.2 percent Republican

– North Carolina: 54.6 percent Democratic, 10.2 percent Republican

Overall, said the study, there are 5.8 million eligible voters in jail, about 2.5 percent of the voting age population. Most are young black males, it added.

From looking at those numbers, prison is a lonely place for a Conservative to be at.

Generally speaking, conservatives would rather earn an honest living through hard work and living within their means, whereas many of the people in prison are there for dealing drugs, stealing, robbery, assault, car-jacking, and other skills or traits acquired by people who dislike hard work or have visions of easy money from a life of crime. Since a true conservative rarely resorts to the above means to earn a living their numbers will always be low in prison populations, once they criminalize negative speech about big government I am certain their numbers will rise!

I highly doubt that 10/10 felons register for a political party.

No need for union thugs to register when they are stuffing ballot boxes, registering non-citizens, and busing registered voters to multiple precincts to vote. There is a famous case in northern California where the Democratic Party paid folks from the San Francisco Bay Area, to ride the bus north to register in as many counties as possible in order to unseat a Republican member of Congress after his investigation helped put a Democratic chairman in prison for mail fraud.

So, 7 out of 10 felons are Democrats, but less than 10 out of 10 felons register for a political party. Therefore, less than 3 out of 10 felons are Republicans.

I bet those Republican felons make up more than 9 out of 10 major securities fraud felons. ;)

I'm also willing to bet less than 1 out of every 10 VJ poster gives a rat's a$$ about a felon's political affiliation, so long as they remain behind bars.

If only there was a single party system in the US. Or better yet, a Republican dictator. It's amazing how one party has the answers to everything.

Hang on bro, your one party system is just around the corner at least on the Presidential ticket.

Immigration, and the disparity in Birth rates are rolling TX and FL into the Blue column. Once those electoral votes are safely in the Blue-bag, you will

see a one party rule on the national level.

At one time Californian voted for Nixon, Reagan..... they couldn't get enough of them.

Now not one person from the GOP can get elected on a State-wide ballot. That huge block of votes are gone for the GOP,

TX is the next largest block and if you look at the demographics of say 15 years and younger..... well one need not have much in the way of math skills to get the picture.

Then

Imagine if you will, what the Supreme Court would vote like if a Barak Obama-ish President were making nominees for the next 2o years.

The only possible alternative is if the Left were to split into two groups... which we see no hint of. That possibility looks more likely on the Right which

means you won't have to wait very long.

Since the GOP is the only party that even pretends to be concerned w/ national financial solvency, Plan your retirement accordingly and think about how you might protect your pension.

It would make sense to know how many of those 5.8 million felons eligible to vote actually register with a political party. Knowing this would give a better idea of how important politics is to that demographic.

As to why more felons register to vote Democrat - that's not terribly hard to fathom.
