The Philippines embassy requirements are different though from Jamaica.

Actually the Jamaican embassy paper does not say you can use a co-sponsor but since when you do the AOS you are allowed one I went ahead and included it. I took a chance and they accepted it but it stated I needed to make 100% of the poverty level myself.

He meant different consulates have different procedures and requirements. Some will allow co-sponsors, and some will not. Some will allow them for a select few cases. It all depends on the consulate and the actual case presented to them. Other consulates freely accept co-sponsors for all cases. So, your experience in Jamaica may not ring true in the Philippines.

My fiance's interview is scheduled for November 21. I just recently separated from the military less than a month ago and right now I am in between jobs. I am planning to go to school starting in January and during that time I will be working a part time job. While I'm going to school I will also be collecting BAH (housing allowance) from the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill. I'm really worried because our interview couldn't be at a worse time. We can't wait any longer for the interview because the petition expires November 23. My dad said he will be a joint sponsor but I heard that the Philippines does not accept joint sponsors for I-134. What will happen if they deny her at the interview? Will they give us another chance? It really sucks because we have already been apart for more than 2 years. If I fill out the I-134 I don't even know what to put for my employer because I don't have an employer right now. But if I show them my last 12 bank statements it shows steady income from the military. Has anyone ever heard of the consular in the Philippines accepting a joint sponsor for K-1 applicants?

I-129F petition can be extended up to 1 year, so if you want to delay the interview you can. Simple contact the embassy and ask for them to extend the petition validity... no issue. They will extend it 4 months at a time up to the 1 years.

USEM can be difficult accepting a co-sponsor with the K-1, but when they want the co-sponsor to be a relative. I know of a fair number of co-sponsors for the K-1 that have been accepted. Your not having a job yet may be the biggest issue, even if you have a lower paying job would be a big plus.

- get the extension. Take the extra time to get a job.

Come on over to the Philippines forum

since you were in the military in 2013,

you are evaluated for that income at the poverty level, not at 125 percent of the poverty level.

So, take your final LES statement, look at the biggest number there, and tell us if it's OVER the poverty level or no.

Being he is not in the military at the time of the interview do you think that is true?

how long were you in the military for? my fiance got discharged early this year after 16 years of service. i read that if you have about 60k in your savings, you'll be fine without a job. at the same time, just get a co-sponsor. no harm trying. we are kinda in the same situation...

Your last LES will not work because it shows the separation date unless you have time left and was out for medical reasons. The VA website I think WAVE (gi bill) which is the enrollment verification shows the payments made and expecting. You should use that to show what you are being paid from them. Lastly, if you haven't been to the VA hospital go see if you are qualify for any disabilities. I know I came in 10 years ago in one shape and currently the military wear and tears got me some. I am still active but if I leave the AF tomorrow I know there's enough damages to my body to warrant a disability of sort. It can be hearing lost, shoulder pain, aching foot, whatever. Let the doc check you out. The very least it is an income to show.

it'll be a timeline, from 1 Jan 2013 to the day of the interview,

for current annual income.

IMO -

1 Jan 2013 till discharge day - eval at 100 percent of poverty line

discharge day till 31 DEC 2013 - eval at 125 percent...

I think if he got ANY job now, it'll help.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
