Hey there,

I'm a UK citizen who has been a permanent resident of the U.S. for the past 15 years and recently got engaged to my fiance who is a UK citizen. We are looking to have her move to the U.S. and start our life together. I am looking for what are the best ways to go about this and what exactly would i need to file and if becomin a U.S. citizen myself first would be the best solution. Searching online for answers is becoming annoying since i keep finding so many different answers and suggestions. I was wondering if anyone on here could point in the right direction on this matter whether it be a website, immigration lawyer, or what not. I just would like to know what be the best way to talk to someone either on the phone or in person who can clear up some answers for me.

thank you in advance for your help

As an LPR you cannot file a I129f petition.

You could marry your fiancee then you could file I-130. But unlike USC you don't get an immediate visa number for your spouse, extending processing time to years maybe. If this is how you plan to proceed you could apply for citizenship during this process. Once you are a USC you can contact USCIS letting them know this. They then should bump you up the list making a visa number immediately available. See this link,,,http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/free-books/fiance-marriage-visa-book/chapter12-30.html

Thank you, goodnight and may your gods go with you",

We were in a similar situation; my husband had been resident for 22 years and had found no reason to file for citizenship until he decided he wanted to bring me over. We sent off the N400 as soon as we decided to get married and the I-130 a few weeks after we were married. Once he became a USC he called USCIS to upgrade his petition. They asked for a copy of his citizenship certificate and we got our NOA2 a couple of weeks later. It took about 6 months for the citizenship and under 8 months for the spouse visa.
