I am sorry if I am repeating a question already asked but, I am not sure how up-to-date the info is at the top of each thread is. From what I've been reading NVC seems to be moving at a much slower rate than usual. Does anyone have an idea of how long the process takes from when NVC receives your documents and when your interview is scheduled? We recently received our NOA2 from a local office, and are expecting to be all done by November when we should have our interview scheduled and done with NVC. Does this sound likely or unlikely?

IMO, all depends on how fast or slow the local office lobs the casefile to NVC, and NVC's lag for logging the casefile.

Two big variables, again, IMO.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I mean I know those are the biggest variables-once they log the case file how long does it typically take to complete the case if no RFEs are needed? I've been seeing that the are taking 30 business days to review documents rather than 10 business days.

The NVC's current review period is 30 business days (except for the Choice of Agent form which they say they will take up to 10 business days to review).

It took my petition from May 31st to August 12th to go from the Los Angeles Field Office to NVC. Other's petitions have gotten there in less than a week. So, it seems like it all depends on when your field office ships it out. Took the NVC 10 business days to generate a case number on my case.

Good luck.

Congrats!

You can either keep calling every day to inquire if an interview date has been scheduled, or just wait for the email to arrive.

Two big variables, again, IMO.

So if I'm with WashDC and they are one of the overclogged field offices and recently got NOA2 (AUG23), I will have to probably wait for than the average (3-4 weeks) for them to send out the file to NBC?

My NOA2 was in March as well and I'm still stuck in NVC hell. NVC is not a simple process and I think luck really plays a huge part in it. Right now NVC is in utter chaos to the point even my attorney is at wits-end.

The first variable that hurt us was USCIS taking 3-months to send our petition to NVC after NOA2. And then there were the numerous NVC hurdles and now NVC changed their entire process completely at random on september 1st without grandfathering cases apparently, not to mention needing to wait 30 business days (1.5 months) to even look at papers.

Another question.. My husband's police clearance certificate expires on October 4th (6 months from issuance). However, he is unable to apply for a new one until that date has passed. Therefore, I have to send the certificate that is expiring on October 4th (within the 30 business day review period).

I plan on footnoting my cover letter as follows:

"A Police Clearance Certificate issued by the Sri Lanka Police is valid for 6 months from the date of issue (i.e. until October 4, 2013) and an application for renewal can only be made after expiration (http://www.police.lk/index.php/component/content/article/91). The Beneficiary will apply for a renewal of the Police Clearance Certificate upon its expiration. The Beneficiary will take the renewed Police Clearance Certificate to his interview."

Does anyone have thoughts on whether or not I should put in the footnote? Any edits?

Also, does anyone know if this will trigger a checklist?

Thanks!

Long as the police certificate is in NVC's hands before it expires you should be fine. many expire while there (Nigeria just has a 3 month shelf life.)

When you get P4 Interview letter you will be checklist to bring a new police certificate to interview.

I think that would be a good idea. Make sure you write this in both the cover letter as well as a little sticky note attached directly on the certificate itself (as who knows if the officers even read the cover letters).

And like dwheels said, as long as NVC gets the certificate before the expiration date, it should be fine.

Hei! I just sent and paid my ds 261 application, the payment status is still IN PROCESS.

Should i send my AOS package now or wait until the status become paid?

There's something im really confused about AOS,hope someone can help me out. Thanks in advance =)

1. Where to get the i-864 form? Will the NVC send it to us to fill it up?

or should i just download and print it from the computer?

2. We're prepared for having a joint sponsor just in case it's not enough income for my husband.Should I include my joint sponsor's i-864 from the time we will send the AOS package in Nvc or wait until they ask for it? I'm just trying to avoid a delay

3. Should i start sending supporting documents for ds-260 application through mail? But i have'nt send my ds-260 form online?

What should I do now and wha'ts next.

Thanks

You don't pay anything for the DS-261... It replaces the DS-3032 Choice of Agent form. I'm unsure what you paid? The AOS Invoice perhaps? $88?

1. The I-864 is available on the USCIS website. It's a PDF you can fill out yourself. Don't wait for an email for it, just do it. :D

2. If you need a joint sponsor, then send that information with your AOS package. Do not wait for the interview for this as that will cause a delay.

3. Wait until the IV invoice is paid and you can print off the bar coded cover sheet. Also after you do the DS-260 there is a confirmation sheet. If you want you can include that in your IV package, or send the IV package after it's been paid and the money removed from your account.
