72 days? it's been 128 for me and VSC. YAY not knowing when your wife is getting here!!!

Yea I know it really sucks :( After I found out the NOA1 date for Trailmix was wrong, I realized that I was the next up for February at the VSC, took a look through the dates for VSC real quick and saw you on there still unapproved from January and felt extremely miserable for you :(

Why oh why are they being so sucky :(?

After I found out the NOA1 date for Trailmix was wrong, I realized that I was the next up for February at the VSC, took a look through the dates for VSC real quick and saw you on there still unapproved from January and felt extremely miserable for you :(

Your reply made me laugh Geist as I was feeling the same when I was in the February 'group', when I realized my mistake I actually felt better (which is nutty since now I'm not even near anyone that has an NOA2).

When I look at some of the timelines for people who have filed a K3, I'm thinking that we should (plus we live in Calgary, so Vancouver is much closer than a jaunt to Montreal). Then I look at the paperwork (which I know we are going to have to do anyway) and I think, hmm, no, we will wait :)

Haven't completely ruled it out though.

I don't know if this helps you at all, but I've done some serious statistics regarding NOA2s for both VSC and CSC. For the IR-1/CR-1 visa VSC gives a NOA2 on average in 76 days, while it takes 120 days for CSC. Regarding the K3 visa VSC gives a NOA2 (on average) in 63 days versus the 86 day CSC average. There seems to be a seeming speed difference in NOA2s for the I-130 forms, for both VSC and CSC, which benefit K3 receivers. Even if the medians reduce the difference between VSC and CSC they still indicate that VSC is faster than CSC, at least in the long run.

What I'm personally wondering is why has CSC approved 20 persons on this thread while leaving 3 serious laggers (defined as filed last year but still hasn’t been approved), when the same numbers for VSC are 7 approved and 8 seriously lagging.

The available statistics just don't add up with the picture represented on this thread. It might be that the sample is too small or biased or equal, but it has to be pretty badly so in order to produce such varying results.

two reason's i'm guessing when doing your stat's you left out the unapproved people (laggers/strays). Of course you only get the people approved, who are roughly approved faster then the one's at CSC. So my suggestion would to add another stat that looks at overall approval rate of both centers and average wait time after 120 days. Meaning the numbers might show your more likely to get approved faster at VSC but if you have waited past 120 days your up a river with a paddle.

notice how roughly 6 out of the first 20 people who went through VSC have been approved, opposed to over 15 of the first 20 CSC. I quickly hand counted.

I just sent a letter to my Senator, because by the time they get my letter (they're 3 weeks behind on personal petitions) it will be over 140 days since my NOA1.

two reason's i'm guessing when doing your stat's you left out the unapproved people (laggers/strays). Of course you only get the people approved, who are roughly approved faster then the one's at CSC. So my suggestion would to add another stat that looks at overall approval rate of both centers and average wait time after 120 days. Meaning the numbers might show your more likely to get approved faster at VSC but if you have waited past 120 days your up a river with a paddle.

notice how roughly 6 out of the first 20 people who went through VSC have been approved, opposed to over 15 of the first 20 CSC. I quickly hand counted.

I just sent a letter to my Senator, because by the time they get my letter (they're 3 weeks behind on personal petitions) it will be over 140 days since my NOA1.

Yeah, I suspected this problem too.

If I add in both the unapproved and approved people for IR-1/CR-1 visa, I'll get an average wait time of 247 days in VSC and 290 days at CSC. Even if these stats are completely false, because people don't update their timelines, they still point to the direction that even with laggers the VSC is always faster. The same holds also for K3 visas (I don't even bother to find out medians or equal, since the average is so overwhelmingly positive to the VSC so the difference should hold regardless). Besides, the current IR-1/CR-1 graphic charts found under historical timelines does this job way better than my calculations would (it seems fairly accurate and has a rather good, yet upwards counting, prediction time I've noticed, or then I'm just reading it wrong).

I tried to do what you suggested and counted out the averages after the third quintal (i.e. after 75% have been approved), which are 142 days for VSC and 202 days for CSC. The average after 120 days of waiting is 142 days for VSC and 171 for CSC. Although, if you take the average after 125 days of waiting the average for VSC rises to 195 days while it stays as above for CSC.

People who don't get approved from VSC, I've noticed, eventually shift to a K3 visa, but even with them the averages of K3 visas aren't going that much up, so there's still something mysterious about these statistics. I've also wondered at after what date it might be vice to move from an IR-1/CR-1 visa to a K3 visa, and it seems that for VSC you should wait around six months before changing plans.

The annoying thing is that VSC is very unpredictable regarding NOA2 approvals with very high standard deviations, while the CSC is a lot more stable. It’s also annoying that individuals can be approved within 30 from the same service center that takes over 180 days for others. The good thing is that after NOA2 is approved the NVC seems to be very stable so things become more predictable then. Of course it doesn't really help as long as you are still stuck waiting for your NOA2...

what is the secret to the 1 day approval of I-130? It is unbelievable! :thumbs:

How come it was approved by TSC? I thought TSC sends their cases to CSC?

I hope you don't mind me asking these questions, it seems that your case is very special!

There seems to be a seeming speed difference in NOA2s for the I-130 forms, for both VSC and CSC, which benefit K3 receivers.

What I'm personally wondering is why has CSC approved 20 persons on this thread while leaving 3 serious laggers (defined as filed last year but still hasn’t been approved), when the same numbers for VSC are 7 approved and 8 seriously lagging.

The available statistics just don't add up with the picture represented on this thread. It might be that the sample is too small or biased or equal, but it has to be pretty badly so in order to produce such varying results.

I've read somewhere in this thread that indeed K-3 filers get their NOA-2s faster, mostly on the same day as their NOA2 for I129F in fact. The drawback - I-130 is then retained and I-129F is sent to the corresponding embassy, meaning you will need to pay additionally and file more paperwork and lose another month or two, if you want your I-130 to proceed instead of I-129F.

Soooo, then this is why people removed K-3 filers from this list, to avoid screwing up the statistics :yes:

As for the laggers I suppose sometimes paperwork DOES get lost :ranting: and then sometimes people do not update their profiles...

I think it is definetly worth filing for K-3 if there is no touch, nothing for 6 months...

I filed the petition for my husband and I (I-130 CR1) and it was received on February 1st, 2007 by the Vermont Service Center (with sadly no touches or updates yet and its still pending...but I am hopeful!! :)) Good luck to everyone waiting!!! I'm telling you, there must be a Cuban or someone very fond of Cuba at CSC. I've seen a few petitions being approved within days for members with beneficiaries in Cuba. Nothing against the petitioners but I don't think it's fair for everyone else, that's all. :no:
