Actually, I've been in America for nine days and haven't received my green card yet.

How much would it take me to get it?

Time varies from the time it takes to receive the actual green card. It can be as little as a week after POE to a month.

For now, the visa and CBP admission stamp on the page next to the visa will act as a temporary green card.

It's legal proof of your standing. The green card in your hand is just another proof of your standing. You have the right to work and attend school now while you await your physical green card.

My husband arrived here on 12/14/12 and received his green card on 12/30/12.

If i am you...what i will do is to go to the local SSN office with your passport and apply for SSN. As mentioned by others, the stamp on your passport is enough to cover you till you get your GC.

As mentioned by others, the stamp on your passport is enough to cover you till you get your GC.

It's the visa that has been endorsed by an admission stamp that will serve as a temporary GC, not a stamp by itself.
