This is a good idea.

Of course, you do realize that some religions will 'marry' homosexuals and if 'marriage' is something government no longer regulates (it only regulates civil unions) then there's really nothing stopping homosexuals from getting 'married' because some religion out there WILL marry them.

You'd end up right where you don't want to end up. Homosexuals will be 'married' just like you are.

So let some churches marry gays and call it marriage. The southern baptist and Pentecostal's think everyone but them is going to hell anyway, so what would change

So what, next time take them to Chik-Fil-A and you won't have to worry about it.

If you were truly concerned about your nephews and what they just witnessed, you would have taken the time to sit them down and explain to them what had happened. Instead you allowed a 4 and 5 year old witness you threaten other people with physical harm because you didn't agree with what they were doing. What an awesome role model you are.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

You want to expose little children to those freak shows that's your thing not mine.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Just because you do not agree with someone's lifestyle does not mean they are a freak show. Insulting people you don't know for not living their lives the way YOU think they should is truly ignorant. Believe what you want, live life how YOU want, and stop being so judgmental. Stop hating. :)

Children are not born to hate. They are taught.

If you treat something like it's different and wrong, then so will they. My nieces were simply told by their parents that sometimes men love men and women love women. And guess what? They aren't scarred for life. They didn't say "Ewww, gross, why?" They said "ok" and moved on with their lives.

What bothers me about the original post is not that they have a differing opinion, really I'm all for differing opinions and discussing them. What upsets me is comparing homosexuality to a lifestyle choice compared to pedophilia or other illegal acts, because pedophilia could just be considered a different lifestyle choice for some. This person mentions a "relationship" between a 50 year old and a 12 year old. Please don't equate homosexuals with criminals and some made up scenarios, calling a 12 year old a "lover". Give me a break, a 12 year old in a sexual "relationship" with a 50 year old is being abused, pure and simple. I don't care in what era, it's abuse.

In this case, I see the freak show as being you and the way you reacted, I'm sure your nephews probably thought the same thing, young children don't take to well to violence. It would have been a riot if one of those 'fellas' called you on your word, then what?

i think it's very telling that danno and bad_daddy, etc think it's damaging to children for them to see two men kissing (something they could look away from), but not damaging for these same children to see their uncle get into a fight and possibly arrested - for attacking strangers in a public place.

this is why conservatives get a bad name - they've got a neanderthal problem.

Personally I think homophobia should be illegal. And people who are "subjected" to homosexuals kissing or holding hands will become homosexuals as much as people being "subject" to blacks sharing the same dining room will become black...

You're just jealous because they're real men and you can't have them.

Actually I have no issue with that. If individual churches want to redefine God's definition of marriage, that's their deal. But let those that don't want to redefine it, keep it the way it is. And then the government stays out of it and everyone wins.

As I've said before, I do not hate homosexuals and I believe they are entitled to make their own choices about how they live and be happy and be in love and receive all the rights of being a citizen of the US and citizen of the world. But marriage is not a "right." I may not agree with homosexuality, but I also don't agree drinking alcohol, and yet most of my close friends drink alcohol....and we are still the best of friends. I don't think we need a law stopping people from making personal choices I don't agree with. To each their own. But I also don't think all religious people should be forced to accept and embrace homosexuality and normal and natural. And as I said before, the whole "marriage" thing is just slapping religious folks in the face by forcing them to accept homosexual relationships as natural and normal.

Well, one can be said that liberals get a bad name because they over generalize conservatives. It is actually my only real problem with some liberals in that by demonizing conservatives and painting us all with the same brush they stop any sort of meaningful dialogue.

Personally I think homophobia should be illegal.

Isn't that just as bad as the other side saying homosexuality should be illegal? No person can control how another person's brain works. You can't make a person like gays if they aren't programmed that way in the same way you can't make a homosexual like the opposite gender.

This is why I love being an American - people have a right to their opinions and lifestyle choices.

Please don't act like it's only liberals demonizing conservatives. There are plenty of "**" comments and posts posted here every day.

i was actually reinforcing your assertion. conservatives as a group/party need to distance themselves from the extremist portion of their support. who in their right mind advocates violence against strangers? in front of children. AND running away from the cops. with the children..?? conservatives as a whole, do not and don't want to be associated with that sort of ignorance.
