Why would he call the NVC 10 times in one day?

Because NVC TeleOperators give different answers. They are not that trained, but can easily read what's in front of them. Alas, many times they still get it wrong.

a sampling of 10 calls is useful - take the answer over 50 percent.

For something as important as 'expedite granted' - 10 calls is minimal.

What's the point of calling 10 times in one day though? Other than making life miserable for everyone else who is trying to get through just once?

Your incredulity is showing. Can hide it a bit? TIA !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

That email you sent, they took it as an expedite request apparently. If the operator says they sent it to Montreal (I'd triple check this with other operators to be sure), then NVC will no longer be scheduling your interview, but Montreal instead. You'll have to contact Montreal or DOS to find out when they schedule you an interview.

OK, I just got off the phone with the NVC. His words specifically were "Montreal accepted your expedite request". Looking back at the supervisor email we sent, the last line was "Given this was an error on the part of someone at the NVC and a very heartbreaking delay would it be possible to expedite ,please" so apparently we did request an expedite. :P The ironic thing was that we even neglected to attach the AOS and were notified 3 days later we didn't include it! :bonk:

OMG!! I am just buzzing right now! :energy: We were expecting December but now he told me in all likelihood it will be November! Just in time for my birthday!! :dancing::dance::dancing:

So can I call Montreal? I thought I read they don't take calls anymore.

Like Darnell said, operators' answers ALWAYS vary. Calling 5+ times is an excellent idea in a situation like this to actually know where the case is.

Nope, no calls. You'd have to email them. I suggest send an email off to Montreal pronto. Then call up DOS tomorrow once they open. DOS has access to your file so they can tell you whether an interview has been assigned or not.

I think yer gonna be the lab experiment here.

Prior expedites @ Montreal were really painful.

In general terms, not specific to Montreal -

1. when an expedite request is granted, all processing stops at NVC. No more fees to pay, no more doc intake. Where the casefile is for 'status' at that moment in time, it's bundled up, sent to that IV Unit at that US Embassy/Consulate.

2. Got more stuff to do? a DS-230/260 to complete? an I-864 to handle? more civil documents? fees to pay? Handle all at and with the IV Unit. Typically, 'the rest of the casefile' processing occurs on interview day.

so, if yer docs are complete at NVC, and all fees paid for at NVC, then yer done. Now it's on Montreal/IV to set up yer interview on their interview schedule. Whilst they approved the handling of the expedite, it truly doesn't 'start' until Montreal/IV sees the stuff and decides to get you on the calendar. It's been hit or miss, to get on the Calendar at Montreal these past 2 years on an expedite - because it's impossible (well, almost) to get a Human in the IV unit on the telephone in Montreal. You can try email, and try email often, until you get a response from someone. Note there are two types o someones with Montreal IV - Canadian Citizen workers and USA Citizen workers. Canadiens don't really care about your casefile - they just do what they're told to do for crafting an email response. USA Citizen workers with Montreal IV actually make a moment to review your casefile and tell you specifically what to do.

So, with all that said - it's now on you to somehow wedge yer way into Montreal IV unit. At this point, I suggest waiting 5 business days, then go nuts on 9 NOVEMBER with contacting them. There's other queues, and your casefile will wind it's way through them queues with Montreal till a competent human can see the casefile.

Good Luck !

Is this the correct email for the consulate? It's what is posted on VJ but I find no reference of it on the consulate site. Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov

EDIT: Never mind, found it on their site. :bonk:

I posed this in a thread, but realised it's actually really relevant to this thread more. My issue is this:

Hi everyone,

I received my NVC numbers a couple of days ago.

My husband and I were both able to log in to the payment portal and it said that there was no payment available for processing.

Yesterday it started having a sign on error. It would load but say that there was an error with the log on or whatever on a new page.

Today it now says:

You cannot make online payments for your case at this time. Please contact the NVC if you have questions or need further information.

I've read about sign in failures prior to an invoice becoming available, but is it possible this is related to our expedite request? Wishful thinking I know!

Thanks anyone who can help - if it's normal then at least we all know what to expect.

I read on the NVC page that this error message is normal, but I'm more confused as to why we got 2 DIFFERENT error messages over a period of 2 days after initially being able to access it.

How long will the system usually go down before you can pay it?

See my timeline for my expedited I-130 application due to military pcs
