hi co October filers.. can i get some tips/advice from you guys? i'm thinking of whether i should go back home to visit my fiance in the Philippines, either in time for his interview or before that. i have a feeling we might be RFE'd - maybe i'm being cautious bordering on paranoia  anyway, i first met him here in the US in 2011 and we went out several times, but we did not take pictures of our outings since he was just courting me then. we finally had our picture taken when i went to his sister's house on the day he was about to fly back home. after he got back, we continued to keep in touch through viber, text messages, fb until we made it official in june (after 6 months of courtship). then we met each other again in august in hk and macau - we got engaged then. this time we took pictures and included these in the packet i sent to the USCIS this october. i was planning to visit him in january but then our hospital has issued blocked off dates in january till feb.16 because we will be updating to a new computer system. we won't be allowed paid time offs during that period. so, this is my situation and my mind is wandering and wondering on when best to visit him. also i'm just counting on the generosity of my coworkers who tole me they were willing to give up some of their vacation time should i need it. in short, our unit does not have that much vacay time for the staff coz we're a small unit and we don't have a lot of staff as well. i do hope for the best possible outcome. and i count on your support - please feel free to offer me some advice. thanks in advance and good luck to all of us on our journey. btw, he got here because of a humanitarian parole visa (he was going to donate his kidney to his aunt but then his aunt died not long after he arrived here).

Hi guys! My fiance and I sent our petition in on Oct 1st 2012. Last week we had still not received an NOA1 so my fiance decided to call the USCIS customer service to see what's up. Apparently they've already rerouted our petition to the California Service Center and they stated our NOA1 date as Oct 2nd. I don't really see how that it possible since we only filed on the 1st and the petition was sent from Switzerland but oh well :-p

What I mean to say is that if it seems like an inordinately long time since you've sent your petition and you've still to hear something back just give them a call. They're pretty friendly and if they don't know the answer right away they'll promise to call you back... which they do :-)

Good morning fellow hurry up and wait October filers! It is now the middle of November and we are on our way to that wonderful day when the K1 visa is issued. I have a question about the USCIS web site. I have gone to the web site each day and entered my NOA1 case number to check my currnet case status. I keep getting a message that says my case can not be found at this time. I have read a few posts that I should not worry as the case status is not updated very well. Has any other October filer had this same issue? Oh and by the way my file is in Vermont. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Same here and my NOA1 is Oct. 16. I've heard the site is not updated very well. Hopefully they are too busy processing applications to worry about updating their website.

Like JohnE said, being former Marines we are use to the hurry up and wait routine. I haven't even gone to the website to check the status lately. Just hang in there everyone for all good things take time.

Hello everyone.

Firstly, best of luck to all of us in our applications. We all share the same anxiety. Waiting.

Secondly, the NOA1 receipt number doesnt seem to be working for me. I goto uscis.gov almost every day and still get the 'case not found' message. I really hope that they are so busy processing our applications that they forgot to update the status on their website :)

Anyone else having this problem?

I can't wait for it to be April 19th! (VJ's estimated NOA2 approval date).

Cheers my friends.

Same thing is happening to me. I called USCIS to verify there wasn't a problem, and they said that they had my case and it was processing and that it will take roughly five months. They said that if the case is not on the website, it's because of technical problems and that they are working on it.

I just checked mine two nights ago and brought up the status right away.

My problem is I misplaced/lost my hard copy of the NOA1. I have the email still but do I need that hard copy for her interview in Manila?

Still paitently waiting till mid March, then I will start to worry.

CSC petitions have no problems in checking their case status once you entered the prefix WAC and then the receipt number. But if it's VSC based petitions, there seems to be a glitch in their system because the case status could not be found. But if you have your hard copy of the NOA 1, that's more proof that the agency has received your file. Best to just wait this out, and then to give USCIS a call once the 5th or 6th month approaches ( i plan to call them about a week after the estimated NOA2 date has lapsed) to check on the status of the petition and maybe ask a service request at this point. our time will come eventually. just start planning on how to gather the needed documents for the packet 3, or make those copies of the I 129 F that you sent to USCIS - a back up just in case papers are questioned or are misplaced.
