We only have one original police certificate from her home country and it's difficult to get another one because of the delay and money involved.

So would it be okay to just send in a good photocopy with an official tranlation?

And we will have the original police certificate at the interview. I am afraid it may get lost so if only a photo copy is needed just like for the passport bio page I would like to play it safe. I called the NVC and was told only a photocopy is needed for the Passport Bio Page AND Police Certificate.

If I am wrong about this, please somebody let me know, etc...

thanks!

I am sending the IV package tomorrow.

Since your flag says France that sounds strange, you can order them online for free, are you talking about a different country?

NVC requires the police certificates to be originals, no photocopies. You can request to bring the original to the interview (and include the photocopy), but you can't be guaranteed they'll approve it.

Yeah, We tend to know our stuff more than NVC does

I think this is an appropriate time for a popular phrase: it's better to be safe than sorry!

Yeah, VJ is like my bible...i don´t think i studied this much for my masters!!! anyway, like you say, better safe than sorry. the translations took me 40 min (i had a template ready) so it was pretty painless and if it prevents a checklist, well worth it :)

your right, France is easy and available by applying online.

Romania is her home country, though.

Sounds like we should send in the original police certificit even though all the NVC operators tell me that only a photo copy with translation is fine.

who really knows for sure?

NVC operators are often wrong. NVC MAY be ok with a photocopy if you include a note that you'll bring an original to the interview (I did that for my military certificate because the government only issues you one) but then again they may not. I'm sure it's difficult but getting a new police certificate from Romania would really be the best option. Otherwise just send NVC a copy, a translation, and a note saying the original will be brought to the interview.

Does anyone know why El Salvador would not have gotten their open dates in yet to NVC? Everyone else is getting their dates (India, China, Philippines, Mexico) -- is it because those are bigger consulates so they run a tight ship??
