I dont know where I should post ...but a few moments ago I posted a story and my opinion on why an immigration attorney can help...IT WAS MY OPINION..PEOPLE STARTED ATTACKING ME AS IF I SAID SOMETHING OFFENSIVE.. I posted thinking it would help others..but Ive noticed that lately when when I give wanted advice or help ive been critisized harshly for just that...now my topics are locked because someone thinks it was spam or that I work for this attorney..you people need to get a life..take a look at my profile and timelime and you can see I am one of you..MY FIANCEE AND I FILED AN I129f in May!!! I read your earlier post, and the reason is because the example you posted looks like an advertisement for YOUR attorney. If that is not the case, then it would have been best to refrain from even using your lawyer's name in your post and simply talk about using lawyers in general.

I know..but I was not advertising for his firm..I have read many posts where someone named a specific firm..I was meaning no harm..then people start stating that I must have good resources to hire a lawyer..IM NOT SOME SPOILED RICH BRAT..i lost my job back in april due to a racist employer and the fact.that my fiancee is from peru..he didnt think my relationship with my fiancee was a good idea..but it was none of his business and he told me that if I dont have a job then i wouldnt be in good shape to get married..in three day i was let go..my finances are not just great but by the Grace of God I am making it and my fiancee and I have a Love greater than anything in this world..My post was to help anyone who may want to consider hiring a firm...NOT TO CONSULT A PROSPECT.

Although your intentions may have been good ones this is the internet & everyone online can/will perceive things differently. And while we're on the subject of the internet, as long as people aren't personally insulting or attacking you then they can say whatever they want. You may consider some of the comments as rude or offensive while the poster views it as him speaking his mind...it all comes down to perception. Finally your topic was locked because it broke a forum rule so you really can't complain.

$1800 for the help an attorney seems ridiculous. Yes, certain cases might warrant an attorney, and people are clearly free to do so. But you simply posting an ad for him here I think would violate the TOS and I suspect that's why your post was locked, and should just be deleted.

Well, sorry for the error on my part then..I can assure you in was not intentional..but they need to start paying attention to every post then, because ive seen others similar to mine..i mean geez, c'mon..if someone posts something that seems out of the ordinary then ask or tell the poster before acusing them of being something they are not. The people you see usually are responding to a post, you started an entire thread about your attorney, so I think thats why there is a difference.

Although the OP states that there was no foul related to the above, VJ Moderation cannot validate the relationship.

This may explain why there was a membership backlash. Further, the OP recently joined and immediately posted the "perceived" advertisement. At the end of the day, this is a self help and assistance website for immigration matters. In other words, we help each other through this process from personal experience and without the assistance of an attorney.

I will just add to William's comments that if you do not gain any sort of benefit (financial or otherwise) from recommending a lawyer who you have found to be good, you can certainly recommend them by mentioning their name in an appropriate post - such as you have already done in a number of your previous posts. Other Visa Journey members have done the same. Starting a new topic and posting a full page ad from the lawyer's website isn't just making a recommendation for a lawyer who did a good job for you - especially as you have already mentioned his name in a number of previous posts. It definitely appears to be an advertisement. Our members do know the TOS and know that advertisements like this count as spam and are not allowed. That is why you received the comments you did. Your recommendation went 'overboard' into the unacceptable.

William..i understand the tos now..but I did not recently just join vj, nor was this my first post..I have made several post since being here. If one wants to argue that fact, look at my profile and timeline. I hired an attorney for the simple fact I didn't have the time to do all the paperwork worked too much. It was money well spent and recommend that to anybody who might be in the same predicament. All that I can say my wife made it here in 10 months. I think alot of people grab attorney's that don't know the laws like they should and are worthless. Then the petioners are whining on sites like VJ's. I found alot of info on my attorney on Vj. He was simply outstanding!
