Knew of each other as causal acquaintances for about 1 1/2 years; was in a relationship/engaged for 16 months before getting married so total of just less than 3 years in all but just under 1 1/2 years involved..

We joined the same online special interest group Spring/Summer 2001; became 'familiar' with each other's postings. After 9/11 he and another friend established a 'meditation' group to help deal with the effects of September 11. I joined that group September 2002 and got to know him a lot better. November 2002 he 'jokingly' proposed when he found out my sun-sign and rising sign. In January 2003 I had computer problems and PMed him because I knew he worked with computers. We started to talk - a lot - and 'fell in love' online. Decided we needed to meet in person to see if this was for real, so met in April, 2003 in person for the first time. Became engaged in May 2003, started the K-1 process in June 2003; obtained K-1 visa in March, 2004; moved to the US in May 2004 and were married June 2004 - on the anniversary date our I-129f was accepted and the day before my birthday.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I dunno. We met online in 2001. We dated other people during 2001-2003 before we actually met in person. Maybe we talked online 6-9 times a year. Really, it wasn't that serious before we met. I can't say we discussed many deep topics during that time. We exchanged pics and we both thought the other was hot, but oh well, he/she is in another country. Not worth wasting time with.

I would say it is better to count the day we met IRL onwards. We met in July. We decided marriage was the only way things were going to work out in December. I moved to Germany in May and we got married in August. So, a little over a year from start to finish.

Met in Providenciales. She was my housekeeper, and I was never home when she cleaned my apartment. She changed the cleaning day through my secretary to a Saturday, and we met. She told me my Spanish was horrible and offered to teach me Spanish. Thats how we got to know each other. We were together two years before we got married.
