How have my posts been full of hate? YOU guys come in here attacking citizens of MY country, saying everyone is the same and everyone hates immigrants. Well that's just simply not true! Why bother to complain about a country so much when your loved one is working so hard to bring you to it for a better life or for love? Just be thankful!!!!! I'm not going to sit back and let future residents harp on the US and it's people. So what if I have a "like it or get out" attitude -- would you want someone to complain about your country "oh oh I'm being *forced* to move there" like there's no other options? The US isn't the ONLY country in the world and it's not the ONLY country with racism and intolerant citizens -- but it IS the country your loved one is from or wants to live in. So just suck it up! I mean, we've got people in here making blanket statements like "oh American women treat their men like sh!t" or "oh Americans don't help anyone else but themselves." That's like me making a blanket statement about another nationality and expecting those citizens to be like "oh well." It's a double-edged sword here. It really is. You want to talk trash about Americans? Go do it on another website that ISN'T focused on immigrating to the US. I'm sure there's plenty of them out there.

And just for the record I am paying for the process and I am going through the paperwork not my fiance! he doesn't work hard to bring me there, I am working hard for us to be together! and yes he happens to be an American living in America and no we can't go to another country because I love him so much that I would never ask him to leave his job , family and friends and come live with me, where probably he wouldn't be happy. I am ready for that sacrifice and even though I know I will hear a lot of comments like yours just now towards me, I am still willing to do that to be with the one I love...

About my country, I wouldn't be offended because I am aware of good and bad things in my homeland. If someone complained I would just say to them: you'll get use to it

After moving to Russia in large part to be with my SO, I love America so much more. I love that my daughters's job prospects don't depend on her looks and that my sons won't have to join the military unless they personally chose to. I love that I don't have to bribe or beg people to get them to do their jobs. Love that religion doesn't have such a huge grasp on the State (yet). Love that you don't need to fear political persecution. That you can move up the ladder and not be condemned to a life in a certain social class because you didn't have right connections. That you can still get a good education, that in general there's lots of choices, in everything from the things you can buy to jobs.

I used to be one of those people who thought America wasn't that great of a country. Then I moved abroad and realized life in America, while not perfect, is relatively easy to live in and that there's plenty of opportunities in comparison to other places.

I don't think my husband is moving to the US just because he wants to, on the contrary he's quite terrified of the move, given his English is of course not at a native level and he's never lived abroad. I don't believe most people "love" a USC just to get citizenship. I didn't chose to fall in love with a Russian guy, and he had no plans to even date a USC. It just happens.

I wouldn't make negative comments toward someone who wants to come to America of their own free will. We want people like that here. Apologies if it seemed like I was attacking you -- the lot of these people who can't say anything nice about America have me riled up. Which, I shouldn't even waste my time anymore -- they want to b!tch about America and Americans they have every right. We're one of the many countries that allows that. It's funny when the best argument that people have in each and every country is: pack and move if you're not happy! It's not the country that's ill, it's people most of the time! Countries are beautiful, doesn't matter USA or any other! It is the citizens who make it hard for immigrants to just move in and stay happy. It takes a lot of self awareness to just look at ourselves from the outside and agree that we are far from being perfect! Nothing stops you guys from loving your country and being proud of it but also agree, that not everything is so perfect about it! It's a discussion and you are turning it into a horrible fight because you feel offended! I am sure it's not what OP and other people meant !

Sure, you can criticize America, but why bother to do it on a forum dedicated to immigrating TO America? It just doesn't make sense. There have got to be other forums out there for foreigners adjusting to or trying to adjust to life in the US.

As I visited my wife's homeland, I witnessed first hand "Ugly Americans." I saw US citizens living in or visiting a foreign country, yet they complained constantly about how bad everything was there, nothing was as good as it was in the US. I made sure that I never acted like that; I just learned to accept differences. I appreciated the things that are better in the US, and I took note of things that are better elsewhere.

While it is a person's right to come to the US, and this site, and complain about how awful everything is in this country; it is still just as ugly.
