..You are going off the deep end and claiming, BECAUSE you are pious and a practicing Muslim, AOS and the process is against you.

I am sorry , dear inluwnwaiting,

May be I misspoke or didn't make myself clear.

English is not my native language so forgive me if I do not write things clearly for you to understand.

But let me assure you that no where did I try to imply that process is against me because I am pious, practicing Muslim.

As you notice, my post is about nightmare (something that appeared to me in dream state, not something that actually

took place in reality ) and it demonstrates the extent of anxiety I go through as a Muslim in AOS.

The post, above all, is about my personal state of and condition of coping with AOS process as a Muslim and it is written

in the hopes of other Muslims joining this thread and sharing their similar or different experiences , so together we can

help each other to deal with this utterly personal ordeal we all go through due to psychological problems of our own that may

have little to nothing to do with any external factors.

Please read my posts attentively and I pray Allah to give you more understanding, compassion and mercy on your fellow

Muslim who is going through such a trying period of applying for AOS while being a Muslim.

May Allah be merciful on you!

Alhamdullilah!

I respectfully disagree. This thread is not about religion or policitcs, it's about my individual experience as an AOS applicant who happens to be a Muslim.

Dear Valeria, are Muslims precluded or forbidden to post their AOS experience, as opposed to everyone else?

I kindly ask Allah to have mercy and compassion on mods and let this thread to stay here!

I have known many Muslims, and been good friends with a couple...and yet none of the Muslims I have encountered behave as you do. The issues of your Muslim faith, your piety, your attendance at Mosc, or the idea that you plan to do your prayers in the middle of your interview even...are not appropriate for this area of the forums as they do revolve around a religion....

And before you get into more of the "woe is me" and "persecution" garbage, I would say the same to anyone of any faith that made a thread that revolved entirely around that faith...

I am in no need of your prayers for my soul, thanks anyway. Allah has already secured my salvation.

Thanks in advance for moving this to the religion section, mods.

It's not about religion, it's about your geopolitical situation and current US security interests. If these were still Cold War times (I will not insert a joke about Romney, I will not!), then this process would be much more difficult for Russians, etc.

I think your topic title is a little misleading.

I think AOS can be intimidating for anyone. I am not sure how religion comes into it.

I believe you are welcome to share any of your view/ concerns/ interests/ religion, but maybe this one thread was in the wrong forum. You are expressing your views on being a Muslim and going through AOS, not just a person going through AOS so maybe the politics/religion forum or your regional forum would be more appropriate if you feel your experiences as a Muslim will be/ are different to those of someone of a different religion because of your religion.

I hope that makes sense

Kind regards and good luck.

Or may be it's about neither , not religion nor geopolitical circumstances.

What if it's purely psychological factor? What if I am going nuts because I am a pious Muslim?

What do you think?

I definitely think it is difficult to be a Muslim going through this process, from the very first petition to AOS and beyond. While the US is a great country, there is always a rough phase when it has accepted new people and, as we all know, has a history of oppression, racism, and discrimination, much of which still exists.. against black people, against other minorities, against women (recently Trayvon Martin's death has put this in the limelight). Many people on these forums may say that it is better than other countries, and it is!, but that doesn't mean there are no problems.

Since 9/11 things have been bad when it comes to the civil rights of Muslims, Arabs, and people of other nationalities that the government may consider to be suspicious. We shouldn't expect it to be different when it comes to visa, greencard, or citizenship processing. There is structural, social, and individual bias and discrimination against many people that can't be ignored (but it is!)

Other Muslims and non-Muslims may not understand how you feel, (just like I can't understand the experience of a black person with racism) but as a US citizen who has lived with my Muslim family here for a long time, it's easy to say that you probably do and will continue to experience discrimination and feel some fear. If you'd like me to give examples, I'm happy to send people private messages with the stories my family and I have had to endure.. and we are not even openly Muslim. I don't wear a headscarf and neither do my sisters, but just having that as part of our identity has lead to some bad experiences.

Most recently, in my neck of the woods here in NYC, the story has blown up of how the NYPD has been secretly monitoring innocent Muslim student groups throughout New York and other states. That is just a sad disgusting thing and a violation of everyone's rights. Thankfully, I didn't go to university in New York and only recently moved here from Boston, but it's just a sign of the situation and the times.

After saying all of that, I will say, Brother, that I think you should try to just continue to live your life normally, including praying and going to mosque. Take it easy and not worry about the visa process. You might be paranoid and right about being watched or judged, but if you are doing nothing wrong, even if it takes them years, you will achieve your goal.

Good luck and inshallah no more nightmares!

I wish you good rest and I pray you find peace. This process is very stressful for all of us and can cause anyone nightmares. Be sure to take good care of yourself. You are not alone in being upset, stressed, worried and fearful. I think it took courage to share your personal experience and I hope that somehow you feel comfort from doing that.

he is just a troll he is not even a Muslim as in Islam its not allowed to visualise Allah as he has no physical body as human do then how the hell he knew that the gay with his green card was Allah and not Shatan.Because if It was Allah then he will have a saudi visa for you to go and visit and live in the holy land where pakistani muslims are respected right ? the second thing is that a true muslim never care for material things but you want your green card so badly that you cant stop thinking about it even in your dreams .i will never go to a place where i know i will be treated bad just becuase of my religion why not move back to pakistan or saudi arabia and live a peaceful and respectful muslim life come man it will be easy for you
