After a 15 minute wait for NVC, operator Aiden took my USCIS receipt #, then without me saying anything, he began by asking for beneficiary's name and DOB (so I thought, hmm, that's new) then my name and DOB and finally both email addresses... Then I asked if there was a case # and IIN available and I got a yes... FINALLY!!! Woot woot!!!

Just for your benefit (and anyone else reading this)

This is 'the first part' ya do at NVC.

In another 48 hours or so, the Petitioner will receive an AOS Fee Bill in his/her email inbox.

Once that show's up, it's a clear indication that NVC has thrown the switch to 'on', and they're waiting on you.

Now, from NOW till the AOS Fee Bill shows up, you can try logging in to the online payment portal, and see what's what.

Usually, without the AOS Fee Bill being sent out via email, you'll get some goofy message after trying to log in, where it's visibly telling you that they've closed yer case or it's not eligible for further processing. Ignore that bit, and remember -

when the AOS Fee Bill does show up, it's time to pay (if'n you want some speed).

If you are able to pay it before the AOS Fee Bill shows up in the email inbox, well, hey, you've shaved some days (which is cool).

and

IF NO AOS FEE BILL in the email inbox after a week, have the USCitizen Petitioner call back, and ask specifically for the AOS FEE BILL to be sent via email.

and

IGNORE any DS-3032 that comes in via email - you already know what to do about that.

Siighhh... I want the interview date already! Does anybody know why calling the DOS number is useful (i.e. on page 1 of this thread)? Does DOS have different information than NVC?

Fingers crossed for an interview in early May so he can be here for our anniversary on June 3rd!

So apparently my AOS invoice broke the system and now I have a supervisor reviewing my file to see why the invoice won't generate. Great. Sounds about right - I broke it. LOL. Wait a sec....didn't someone gum up the works with their package last month??? :hehe:

Awesome feeling!!! I was talking in the car on my way home from work so I ran in the house and told my mom and sisters "I got my case # and IIN!!!" and of course, they're like "uhh, congrats? ... What does that mean?"

::face palm:: only my immigration family gets me... Lol

Oh, I can't wait to update my signature, but I'm on my phone now. I'll be on my laptop in a few. So happy!!!

Because DOS knows all. Calling DOS eliminates the NVC middle man. Even though NVC and DOS are the same office of government, they are two different sections of said office.

NVC gets their infomation from embassy/consulate by the DOS. DOS tells them Consulate A has appointments on such such time, so case numbers A1, A2, A3, A4 get these appointments. NVC then informs you, case number A1 your appointment is x day at x time.

Someone could have gotten a case complete after you, but their priority date is before yours, so they get the open slot first. Keep in mind some consulates/embassy are busier than others. Someone from Canada will get an appointment faster than someone from India.

Should i bother calling tonight?

I'm afraid cuz I always gett his M.E.A.N "lady". Always gives me the smirk sigh and just gives me the silent treatment and when i say "Okay, thank you", She says "OOOOKAAAYYYYYYY"

Hahahaha, you just made me laugh hahahahaha. Yes, I think we all have felt that way. You are right they don't even let you finish what you want to say, sometimes I am rude to them as well. The other day when I called to check on my interview, the man responded the usual answer...the first 2 weeks of the month...etc. I answered a bit loud and rude -that's not what I asked, I just want to know if my interview has been scheduled NOT when they are scheduled. He responded no mam (his tone changed and he waited for me to finish speaking). Then I finish with Ok thank you. You're welcome have a nice day mam.

05/22/12-Interview--APPROVED!!!
05/25/12-Visa Received/ In Hand!

I have a question my friends, who should I keep calling about my interview date, DOS or NVC? I can t make the difference in their role?

NVC.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thats great!!! AOS was accepted last week and IV packet sent today....hoping for a case closed THIS WEEK :thumbs:

When did you send the AOS packet?

No doubt you will have an interview date before me! :thumbs:

It is noteworthy to mention that I did not list dates of ALL previous visits to the USA (i.e. question 35). I indicated the last two visits and on the 3rd line I wrote " Visited at least twice per year for the past 15 years".
