Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : May 24, 2012
Embassy Review : I arrived at consulate at 4.45am.I wanted to be first as I knew on May 22, 2012 there were 3 other VJ member’s interview as well. So as being a VJ I knew VJ members will arrive early. Anyway, we were sitting in the car right beside the consulate gate so I don’t have stand there so long and it was also raining outside. There was a parking right beside the consulate $18 maximum stay. At 6.09am I saw 1 lady with a binder and a girl was walking to the consulate and I jumped off the car right away and stand beside the consulate door. The lady stand behind me and told me your hubby is very intelligent for parking his car here so you didn’t have to stand up while no one was here. Hubby went to the parking lot to park the car. Then I saw Shell is walking with her hubby towards the consulate. Then I saw Jordan came to the consulate by taxi. It was only 6.15am and already 4 group of VJ member were already in line. We were all standing there and chatting about VJ and other stuff.

At 7.32am Security opened the door and let us in. There was a guy who asked for my Appointment letter and he put a sticker on the back of my passport with Reference # on it. Afterwards we get through the metal detector removing our belt, jacket and everything in our pocket. You are allowed to have jewellery on you. Hubby had his watch on. Watch is allowed at the consulate. Security just took our car key and gave us a token to get our stuff after we were done, which took 2 seconds. Then we went through the stair case and went to the waiting room for the elevator. At 8.32am a guard came and told us to take the elevator and go to the 19th floor. We went to the back left corner of the elevator. Shell was standing beside me and wanted to race When we arrived at 19th floor a lady greet us asked for the appointment letter and gave me C1! We then were waiting for our call but they called C4, C3 First.C4 and C3 were K1 Visa. I was like what? (I am Citizen of Bangladesh and Canadian Permanent Resident)After few minutes they called C1 to window #1 and the lady asked for our appointment letter, Medical result(took sealed envelope & return X-Ray CD,Vaccination Applicant copy back), 2 copy of picture, marriage certificate, birth certificate, Police Clearance Certificate, Original I-864EZ, Passport and PR card. She also asked for copy of (Passport, PR card, 2011 Tax Transcript, Marriage certificate, PCC, Birth certificate). She took my Finger print. Then she went over some info from my DS 260(Didn’t ask for any copy of DS 260).We went to our seat to wait for the call to interview.

After 3-4 minutes we were called to Window #9 at 8.45am.after we went there the CO, who was 20-25 years old girl greeted us. I was expecting an older CO. She told me to read loud a paper to swear and took my finger print. Then she told my hubby to raise his hand and swore him too. She asked me---
-When did you get married? (Asked Me)
-How and where did you meet? (I asked her if can show my Marriage picture she said no)
-What my husband does? (Asked Hubby)
-What’s his annual salary? (Asked Hubby)
-When do you plan to move to state? (Asked Me)
-Have you ever applied to any US visa? (Asked Me)
-Have you ever had any problem crossing the borders? (Asking this question she went to the CBP site to check, Hubby saw it in her screen)

Then she handed me the Welcome to USA Letter, Returned my original documents except Police Clearance Certificate and told us about when to remove the conditions of the green card. We thanked her and were all done at 8.55am.We waited for Shell to finish her interview until 10am.After her interview we went out the same way we entered the consulate .As, Shell and I were staying in at the same hotel, we gave them a ride to the hotel and headed back to Toronto.

Called DOS,they said visa was issued on 23rd May.Got an email from Loomis at the evening that Loomis/DHL picked up My passport from the Montreal consulate on May 24th.Passport arrived at Markham the next day May 25th.Picked up from Markham brunch at 10.00am.Didn't get the status on CSC site about Ready to pick Up but as I truck my Packet from Loomis it says"Arrived at Markham facility" at 6.30am.So i knew it arrived and I went to pick it even there is no sign Ready to Pick Up.

Our interview went very smooth and a piece of cake. Don’t over stressed because Montreal’s Interview in very EZ. GOOD LUCK!!!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
