My fiance gave me his debit card, in case I need money .

He says we should use that at the interview, to show that we have a rounded relationship. but I am afraid it might look bad.

What do you think? As far as I know, I am not in a high fraud country.

I don't think it looks bad. I think it shows there is a foundation there, with enough trust that he gives you the card. What would be better is if you established a bank account together, but I know this is difficult sometimes.

Never offer more information than they ask for!! Keep your answers simple and concise and answer only the question that is being asked. Offering up more information may or may not be detrimental but could lead to further questioning.

I have been on my husbands credit card for 4 years and did not mention that when I had my K-1 interview to marry my hubby(visa was approved but wasn't used).

Good luck!

Usually it is frowned upon. It only shows that he is giving you some of his money to spend; it shows nothing concerning the relationship.

I agree although Im leaving my debit card with my gal to make it easier for her to withdraw money. Stick to the established criteria in showing the ongoing relationship. Good luck, Paul

These responses surprise me. I got a debit card for my fiance in her own name so she can use it to withdraw money and sent it to her and I was planning on her presenting it at her interview. You are saying this is a bad idea? What kind of new questions could arise from this?

Is he paying you to go to the USA?

Is he paying you to marry him?

Why do you have access to his money to use it freely?

All kinds of questions.

It's fraud to use someones card unless your name is on it without the cardholder present. You can actually get into a mess of trouble.

I agree, the cardholder is the only person to know the PIN# as well. The Bank will not honor transaction fraud if that Pin# is shared by anyone other than the Cardholder's Name.

It can be seen as "buying a wife". Never a good idea. If you don't have enough other evidence to prove your relationship is real and not for pure immigration purposes, then you shouldn't be pursuing this at this time.

Issues of money changing hands before marriage can sometimes raise the suspicion that someone is being paid for something, and that the relationship is more of a business arrangement. If the beneficiary is paying the petitioner then it can look like the beneficiary is buying a green card. If the petitioner is paying the beneficiary then it can look like the petitioner is buying a bride/worker/sex toy. It's information that's usually best not offered to the consular officer unless they specifically ask about it.

YIKES! I thought I was worldly and wise person, but I honestly didn't even think of that. While I can understand the suspicion, then why is it OK to send money via Western Union and then show receipts of that at the interview?

Sometimes I hate having my eyes opened. Things like this make me so cynical and there's no going back to regain your innocence.
