Well...Here's a situation that may never have happened here on VJ before...

I don't even know how to say this, so I'll just be completely frank. I've made a simple but horrible mistake. I was NOT approved last night. Another VJ member forwarded THEIR approval to me without any explanatory message and without blocking out their WAC number...So I very easily mistook his approval for mine when I looked at the message through the viewer of my email client. Seemingly unbelievable but true. I only discovered the mistake this morning on waking up.

I'm mortified, first of all, that I told all of you something that turned out not to be true. I'm mortified that you've now all extended wishes that I don't yet merit. I'm mortified that Laurent now thinks we have an approval and is out of his apartment for several hours feeling happy about something that's not correct. I'm mortified to admit my own complete foolishness in not looking more carefully at the message I got last night and discovering reality earlier. But there it is...So I'm humbling myself.

Please forgive me. I would rather tell you all what happened immediately upon having figured it out than have you believing something that isn't true and thereby compromising the truth to an even greater degree, along with my reputation for it.

I'm still thoroughly delighted for everyone else who got approved yesterday. Turns out I'm just not one of the lucky ones...I think I'm gonna cry, I feel unbelievably terrible...

So, so sorry...

January 2004: Met Laurent at the Bibliothèque nationale in Paris

February 2004: We became an actual couple

January 29th, 2006: I left France to return to the United States--AWFUL to say goodbye!

June 2006: Finally convinced Laurent that a K-1 visa would be more time-effective than trying to get an H-1

August 1st, 2006: The K-1 petition is finally in the mail and on its way to Nebraska...WooHoooo!! And yes, I remembered to attach the check! :-)

August 3rd, 2006: USPS online tracking shows that my petition (sent certified) was received at the NSC at 5:05am

August 14th, 2006: NOA1 received USPS!! (I-129F recv'd at CSC: 8/4; NOA date: 8/10; last touched: 8/11)

October 2nd, 2006: I MISTAKENLY thought we had an approval...False alarm...Back to waiting...

October 3rd, 2006: TOUCHED!!

October 4th, 2006: REALLY AND TRULY APPROVED!!! Email notification lists 10/3 as the NOA2 date.

Later that same day: TOUCHED...AGAIN! Hope that means I'm in a cozy box and moving to NVC this week...

October 10th, 2006: Received official NOA2 via snail mail.

October 19th, 2006: Case received at NVC!! AWESOME!!

October 20th, 2006: Case forwarded to Paris!! DHL says two shipments were headed that way. Must be in there somewhere...

October 27th, 2006: Received official receipt letter from NVC via USPS.

So sorry Kristen. Yours wasn't the only false alarm yesterday...somebody else mistook the RFE email receipt confirmation as an approval. We're all a bit on edge and trigger happy. Don't sweat about telling it here. I hope you'll be able to tell your fiance without him getting too upset. :(

Ahhh... don't stress over it - honestly, with the rate that CSC has been shooting out approvals, it just as well could have been yours. The honesty in the congratulations you got were still valid and now we get to do it all again for you when your turn really comes. Don't even think about not posting when it happens!

Feb 25 - got emails saying that the cases had been transferred to another office for processing

Feb 26 - got emails saying that the cases have been transferred to my local office for processing

Feb 28 - got emails saying that the cases have been transferred and are being processed

Mar 17 - got email, attached to one case number only, saying that my A number was changed relating to the I-130 filing

I wasn't going to log in, just passing through, but wanted to say "stuff happens!" Can't blame you for getting excited, I know I was thrilled for you, and there were a ton of approvals yesterday, you hopefully won't be waiting long! :thumbs:

This will be yet another story for you and Laurent to tell around the dinner table years down the road and laugh your heads off about. :lol:

aawww Kristen we feel for you. It was an honest and easy mistake to make. Look at those who have opened the brown envelope when it says do not open lol. Or the ones who mail their petitions to the wrong center. Everyone makes mistakes. Cheer up hon we can still have the yard sale and sell that forwarded email lol.( could always get even with that emailer, you got the case number, call and cancel their petition) naaa naa I'm just kidding!!! little humor :blush:

I-130 petition in DCFR Tokyo: March 14th 2004. Case reffered to DHS USCIS

Four visits to japan in 2004: Oct 2004, wife got pragnant.

Wife/Fiance left USA and moved into Japan: Feb 5th 2005.

Baby Born: June 24th 2005(Japan)

I-130 denied: July 17 2005(Divorce was declared not valid)

Refiling Divorce: oJuly 17th 2005 NY State.

Divorce granted: Nov 17th 2005

K-1 application: Mar 1st 2006

Approval: May 23rd 2006

US consulate RFE: June 15th 2006

FRE sent (Original passports, birth certificate, all origional docs): July 10th 2006

Medical: Oct 11th 2006.

Interview: Nov 10th 2006(expected)

My best wishes still stand...only now they mean...woo-hoo the approval will arrive soon. :dance::dance::dance: Come on approval! Take these good wishes and use them to brace yourself for a little longer wait. We will all be there to do the happy dance again for you and laurent when the real approval comes. (F)

I just hope you are not too discouraged this morning. I think I would just crawl back in bed and hide for a few days.

06/30/06- sent I-129F petition to VSC.

07/11/06- NOA1 (received in mail)

07/19/06- RFE received in mail, IMBRA

07/28/06- e-mail, IMBRA RFE received at VSC

09/11/06- called VSC, told I'm with an adjudicating officer

09/25/06- called VSC, told to file expedited service, outside 60 days of RFE received date

09/26/06- sent expedited service request to VSC via fax and snail mail

09/26/06- Senators and Congressman making inquiries into my petition

09/29/06- expedited service request approved by VSC director

10/04/06- e-mail NOA2 approved!!!!!!

10/05/06- NVC received

10/06/06- NVC forwarded to Poland Embassy

10/16/06- Packet #3 received

10/17/06- Packet #3 sent to US Embassy Warsaw

10/14/07- I-485, I-765, and permission to travel mailed to USCIS

10/17/07- Received NOA1

12/17/07- I-485 shipped to California Service Center for faster service

12/17/07- I-765 approved new card should be mailed within 30 days, Advanced parole approved

02/28/08- AOS APPROVED!!!! PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD RECEIVED!!!!! (card received couple weeks after approval)

Don't worry about how we feel, I feel so badly for YOU! I can't imagine how you must feel right now with the let-down and all. I hope that your approval comes soon and we can all congratulate you for real next time!! Chin up!
