I totally prefer foreign men. They tend to put their relationship before anything else which in my experience most American men don't. SOL

DING DING DING DING!

you hit the nail on the head right there... and that's what some of us have meant by " she became Americanized "... She's no longer putting the RELATIONSHIP before anything else, but only her own self-serving interests... It's not that the job, the friends, being independent, having money to spend, making her own decisions, or any of the other stuff is the problem. The problem is that those ~things~ have somehow become more important to them than the relationship itself!

Regardless of which side of the gender divide, I would think most of us, male or female would tend to say one of the PROBLEMS in the "American" relationship was the SELFISH-ness of the partner, and putting themselves first before the relationship. And usually we tend to find in the "foreign" partner more of a SELFLESS-ness...

I think that says more about the "ME FIRST" attitude of the American culture, regardless of gender.

And no, frankly I'm not looking for a slave, I'm looking for a PARTNER, who believes in TEAM-work and someone who believes the RELATIONSHIP (and marriage and family) is MORE important than self-serving selfish interests.

It's about two people coming together to make ONE, not two people deciding to be out for themselves and the hell with the other person, anyway... that's the "Americanized" attitude I'm sick of, and I blame a lot of it on our selfish, self-serving culture that we were raised in.

Don't ya just hate it when they start making their own decisions? Next thing you know they want to be treated like human beings instead of sex toys.

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

I'd agree that selfishness is a problem (though I wouldn't call wanting to have a job selfish), but I wouldn't equate 'selfish' with 'being Americanized.' Maybe it's just because I have a number of international friends due to school, but it seems to me that men and women are capable of varying kinds of selfish (& making demands on husbands & wives) regardless of culture.

PurrSuede!

Welcome back -- haven't seen you here since 2003 or so!

Sorry to hear things didn't work out for you. (F)

Thank you... actually I was here a bit in 2004, right up until I left for Moscow to bring her back to America with me... and then (go figure!) I was so busy with our relationship, such as it was, and some other issues as well, that I really didn't have much time for VJ...

And then suddenly, I was seeing an immigration attorney in order to discuss our divorce proceedings, and gee... how's that for a topic to return to VJ about??? LOL

So yeah, I've been on hiatus from VJ for two years, but now I'm back... and yeah, I'm seriously thinking of doing it all over again...

but I'm living proof that just because you marry a "foreign" woman it is no guarantee of a "happy ever after" ending, either, but hey, I could have stayed right here in America with the same results, and missed out on one hell of an adventure... ;)

Damn the IMBRA waiver... full speed ahead... LOL

Anyway, thanks for the good wishes and the flower ;)

It takes TWO people to decide to make a marriage work, but only one to decide to break it...

I wasn't speaking to you. If I were I'd have used smaller words.

Of course, I can see that you've stopped *continually* ignoring me. Shame. It was nicer when you didn't reply.
