What's the story with American Women?

I sense a lot of anger coming from American women here. Seriously girls, please calm down,

I don't need the extra stress right now.

I would take love over the 'comforts' of western culture anyday. I think most people would. American men included (especially).

I wouldn't. I need my comforts That makes me materialistic, I guess.

Based on this thread, I'd call American women "militaristic" rather than "materialistic"

Why is it derogatory? It is about the American and not the spouse -- they complain about the materialism of American women but don't want to give up material things themselves even if it means living somewhere there is supposedly better values than we have here.

because just like the OP painted american women with a broad brush of generalizations.... so too does the statement you made about american men.

I'm making the statement only true of a few specific men...I'm just not going to name names. The comment I referred to was specific enough that if anyone wants to search, they will see who I'm commenting on....nowhere am I saying it's indicative of all men in US/Rusian relationships.

Yanno what I find odd? When the comments are made about US women being too this too that, too into her looks, too materialistic....I then look at some profiles and see that the Russian woman is a stunner.

I also see where the topic of how beautiful these women are is being discussed at length.

Ergo....a woman shouldn't be concerned with looks, but a man is impressed by it? I'm confused. And if looks *aren't* important...there are plenty of women who are not what one would describe as gorgeous or beautiful...but who may possess the very qualities one finds important. Yet, they are passed up for one who has textbook beauty.

I think what it comes down to is that "superficial" men are turned off by "superficial" women. Sometimes what we dislike most about others is, in fact, what we dislike about ourselves. Certain men openly admit that they are looking for a good-looking wife, but one that is not particularly concerned with her appearance. Maybe there are lots of those types of women in Russia, I wouldn't know.

the couple of men I have in mind right now do not strike me as the 'superficial' type in the respect that they care for themselves in the same manner. My theory is just that they want someone hotter than they could ever reasonably expect to ever get without the aid of the internet.

That is very true! It seems that all men want to have a hot chick, and it's partially superficial and part sexual. And yes, the internet has provided a means for average or below average looking men to acquire their desires without being loaded (rich or affluent). Again, just my opinion.
