How many times have you visited your fiance?

3 trips total. 1st trip met first time in person. 2nd trip engagement ceremony. 3rd trip wedding(no papers signed). The 3rd trip was while the K1 visa is pending. As you can see the K1 visa is so long of a process you can actually have 1 - 2 trips even after you filed the petition. Just make sure to have updated passport stamps, stubs for the interview plus even more photos and evidence.

Although the requirement is only once in 2 years, the more often the better. During our interview the interviewer focused on us knowing each other since 2008, but I finally only visited her so long after in Australia last year. So my advice is to visit her as often as your resources will allow you.

09/08/2008 - Began emailing each other

07/04/2010 - Began communicating regularly

12/25/2010 - Met in Australia for holidays

12/27/2010 - Became engaged in Margaret River

01/20/2011 - Purchased ticket to visit her in Colombia

01/29/2011 - I-129F Sent

01/31/2011 - I-129F received and signed by USCIS

02/09/2011 - Check cleared bank

02/11/2011 - Received NOA1

02/14/2011 - Touched

02/17/2011 - Service Request response received

03/02/2011 - I-129F Approved

03/08/2011 - Received NOA2 approval letter

03/21/2011 - Case forwarded to Bogota

03/24/2011 - Received NVC letter. Sent email to Bogota Embassy.

03/25/2011 - Received response from embassy to download instruction package.

03/30/2011 - Emailed fiancee DS-230 & DS-2100 to embassy for interview.

03/31/2011 - Received confirmation of documents submitted to embassy.

05/10/2011 - Visa interview scheduled but later postponed by us.

07/19/2011 - Visa Approved

07/30/2011 - Visa picked up at Domesa office.

We met last year in April 2010 while I was in the UK for three weeks on vacation. (L) He visited me two times after that and I've been to the UK an additional four times after that and will be going again to FINALLY see him in just 2 more days!!! The visits help with this LOOOONGGGG wait time. Thanks VSC for teaching me true patience.

Of course, hopefully this will be enough... I plan on going back just one more time possibly for the Interview and to bring my souvenier finally home permanently with me

I visited him once in Adelaide Australia (the first time we ever met) and then he came to live with me for a year on the J1 visa, but when he has to go back while the K1 is processing I'll probably try to go visit him again in Australia to meet his brothers, aunts, uncles and grandparents :) I've already met his parents when I went to visit him before and they actually came this year to visit and meet my parents for Memorial Day :)

I've been to america once, hes been to new zealand twice (all in the last year) = interview in 15days

Ben & I are the opposite. He came to the US twice (Oct & Dec) & I went to NZ earlier this year. (I'm going back in November.) You'll have to update the consulate page then - hasn't been for almost a year. Hope it goes well! :)

Ok, now I am starting to worry and actually get a little torqued off here. Everybody can't afford to just take off on a trip overseas whenever they fancy one. I make enough money to make a living for me and my future wife but multiple trips overseas are NOT a reality for me. I am just able to cover the fee's and the plane ticket to get my fiancee here, but no way can I afford to take unpaid leave (I burned all my paid vaca days my last trip to Manila)and buy the ticket plus fianance the trip while I'm there AND take care of the rest of the K-1 process (post NOA2) Is this thread telling me that if you aren't well off enough to make multiple trips overseas whenever you want that you are not fit to be approved for a K-1 VISA? I've been on a high the past cpl of days cause of my I-129F being approved, but after reading this thread I'm feeling disillusioned and worried. Never anywhere in any document that I have read have I seen anything stating that you have to make multiple visits to your fiance to get approved for a K-1 visa.

Jimbo, I can see from the bios of folks here that I'm an old guy at 48, even though my fiance makes me feel 17. I have a solid career, racked up tons of frequent flyer miles for work, and can budget the money to go visit. When you are young you have plenty of time and not enough money. When you get older you have plenty of money and not enough time!

Do not expect limited visits to count against you. I even had a customs agent ask men on a returning trip me how I could afford to travel so much. Watch Kayak and Priceline for cheap plane flights, plan your visit to coincide with holidays (I stretched two 3-day weekends into 9 days off straight), and cut back on other expenses at home.
