ok people , wut is the first thing that you do with your wife(or husband ) when they are here in the us ?. me , i am gona drive her around the area where i live . when i met my wife few years ago back in vietnam she is the one that drove me around on her scooter , then taught me how to ride scooter. then after that ill order fast foods like pizza so she know what it taste like. there are fastfood restaurants in vietnam yet most of them dont taste like the real stuff we have here in the us. post stuffs that you did , or plan to do with your spouse on here people , that will give me ideals of what to do to keep my wife happy and ease the culture shock that she will have to go through. i can not do guy stuffs like shooting , fishing , fix car , build a gaming pc or go out to bar for a drink with her since most women dont like stuff like that( and my old man told me to stay away from girls that like to do that stuff  ).

That sounds great, and all, but why can't you show her how to fish, fix a car, shoot, or build a gaming PC? I've been taught all of that by my brother, and now my husband and I enjoy doing those things together. Don't you think perhaps if your wife has common interests, it may bring you even closer in the relationship? I'm not sure what your old man is telling you, but there are lots of women that enjoy those activities that you've mentioned, and it doesn't make them a horrible person.

Good luck.

Yeah. The first thing we are going to do is probably not appropriate for this forum (nor the second or third things).

After that, we are going to visit some family and travel in California before coming back to OK.

This is a very good topic and I loved the bubble bath idea. My Fiance will arrive at about the stroke of midnite though so we will roll into our place at 1-2 am. I think we will just spoon and sleep. She has never seen the ocean and san diego has a large one so that will be the third thing we do. I also think that signing up for English classes is a great idea. Its funny we have been waiting what seems like forever and she is in Kiev now getting her medical taken care of. She will be here (if all goes well) in less than a month. I too would like to thank Visa Journey and all those who have helped us with their wisdom. The unknown is a scary place, and I was helped a great deal more than by just the advice. Knowing their are many others going through the same things as Lily and myself really helped. Thanks everyone.

I had all these plans for my then-fiance's first day here... but he was feeling sick when we arrived from Jamaica, so I ordered pizza and he ate it in bed then fell asleep.

The next day, he was feeling better so I took him on a walk around the neighborhood and apartment complex, so he could get familiar with his surroundings. Later, my friends came over and we all went to a poetry spot. That was over 1.5 years ago, so I don't remember much else.

First thing we will do is meet up with family and have a big feast and she can finally put faces to all the ones she talked to on the phone. Then we will take a motorcycle ride(if its not raining here in Seattle.....)and I will show her all around and let her breathe some fresh, sweet, clean air here. It will be something exciting as we start up our lives together.

Take it from a fellow biker in Seattle who is married to a Pinay...

If the temperature is under 85 degrees, you had better dress her for a winter ride! :o:yes:

I plan on taking her on a helicopter ride...she will see everything from the air and slowly learn from places. then, we are going out with friends and we will take trains, buses, everything that exposes her to people and new places. We will also go visit family from Miami to Orlando and going to Disney, downtown Orlando, downtown Miami... Downtown is always a safe bet in any city.

Hey man your plan is almost identical to mine, im an Orlando guy go Florida lol. The helicopter ride sounds great and they offer them on I-Drive here in town.

My Proposal to kristine!!! :)

Our current plan is to pickup in LAX, drive around USA for about 2 weeks, see the splendor and hit the local china-town markets, then settle in Houston.

My Fiancé wants to drive me around, show me where he works, where his family works, take me to the market to choose and buy stuff I need. Then he wants to get me english classes as soon as possible, so I'll be able to study in the future. I'm also applying for my driver license here in Brazil, so when I get in the U.S I can have my own car and do my own stuff.

You should do exactly what she did to you in Vietnam, drive her around, show where she can buy stuff, take her to restaurants she might like the food (try to stay away from fast-food, you don't want your wife fat, right? ). Also try to always be with her, even if you have to work, when you come back home make sure to spend some time together, remember it's a new country and it's hard for her to adjust, some people take a while and missing family, friends and traditions makes it ever harder.

Find out things she'd like to do, her interests, don't try to turn her into an ''american'' girl, try to find some food from her country though, so she won't miss it too bad.

But the most important thing is, love her. With your care and love, she'll be fine and will adjust :) Good Luck!

Carolina.

well my wife love 2 things , cooking and me lol. she a chemist(who special in dealing with industrial food processing ,like making can food ,beer..ect..,) may be that the reason why she such a good cook. she dont like out door sport or mess around with hardware ( computer , car ...ect..) , but as soon as she get use to living in the us ill probally teach her to do all those , after all fix car and computer and shoot are survival skills that one will need in real life , god know how much money i save over the years by fixing up my car and pc.or at the very least get her to help me out while am doing those things.
