Hello everyone!

I returned from Peru on Sunday after the most incredible trip of my life. To see my love's face and give her a kiss meant everything to me and I could have stayed holding her in the airport for days. We spent the weekend on the beach where we saw a concert and danced the night away. I made my formal proposal with the ring when we got back to her place. Even though we already knew we were going to get married, it is different when the ring is presented. She knew it was coming but cried anyway when I got on one knee and told her everything that was important and true about how much I love her and that there are no words in English or in Spanish to say how much. It felt so nice to see her show the ring off to family and friends but the best feeling was the feeling I got looking into her eyes when she said yes.

We then spent the next several days in Cusco and visited Machu Picchu. I struggle to describe the beauty of that place. It is the closest picture to heaven I have ever seen. You can't help but feel the history and be amazed at the Inca civilization and feel saddend by its destruction. It truly is a city in the clouds surrounded by the most breath taking scenery anyone could imagine. It is one of those places that changes your life and I really feel blessed to have had the opportunity to experience it.

Our interview date is coming up and I can't wait. I head back to Peru on March 14th.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Congrats on the "official" engagement. Pretty cool trip it sounds like.

Just wondering though.. did you get to meet her "friend" that she was hanging out with, a.k.a. "your biggest fan?" And what was your impression of that dude?

I had dinner on Friday with Lu and her friends and he couldn't make it. He called Lu before I got there and wished her luck because he knew that is what she really wanted. She also told me that several weeks ago he said if it didn't work out with me that he would be interested. We talked about everything and it was cool. Something like that was not going to ruin our time together and it really makes a big difference when those things can be discussed face to face. Since I brought up my discomfort on the phone that night, she has not seen him. She didn't want me to feel bad and she really felt sorry about how everything looked. She understood where I was coming from which is all I really asked.

Looks like you had a great time Merc, what's a girl gonna do when she arrives in beautiful frigin Wisconsin, man Cristina always gives me a hard time about how cold it is here in Michigan compared to Spain. Seriously though if she comes here sometime in March/April they get a "little" bit used to it then can get "psyched" for next season of winter frivolities :D:P:lol:

All done for the next 10 years...

It's funny you mention that because it actually does concern me! Where she lives it is about 50-70 degrees all year round. When we were in Cusco, it was about 40-50 degrees at night and I think she thought she was going to freeze to death. That same day I heard it was -2 degrees at home.......oh boy. I'm really thankful that she will be here in May timeframe because the weather here is starting to get nice and there are so many fun things to do in summer. That will give the illusion before the reality of winter hahahahaha. By then we will be married hahahahaha.

Thanks Frances, and to everyone else as well!

My soul feels totally recharged for the home stretch of this process.

I had a funny experience with Lu also.....she was talking about this ice cream called cheese ice cream (they call it that because it uses 3 dairy products). When explaining it, she said they mix it up in a bowel. I had to correct her and say it was bowl. If it was really mixed in a bowel then I'd have to pass on dessert.
