Can you extend that to warnings as well? For example, by default, a member should be warned in a PM before getting a suspension, however, if they are repeatedly violating the same TOS within a certain time frame (like with suspensions), then they automatically are suspended without warning.

I only know from what some here have shared with me outside of this forum, but it seems to be that members are getting quick suspensions for what amounts to very minor violations and without warning. Right now, it is all too easy for someone who has a personal ax to grind, to hit the report button on the most petty of issues. In the OT and P&R, there has long been a steady flow of online banter and bickering. There's a lot of instigating going on that leads to TOS violations and it seems that the instigator isn't getting equal punishment. It's like in hockey, when there's a fight that breaks out, it's not just the two fighting, but the instigator who also goes to the penalty box. It's understandable that it gets difficult to effectively monitor what actually has transpired, which is why it should matter as to who is hitting the report button, as they are most often an active participant. So perhaps a potential suspension to those who repeatedly hit the report button over the pettiest of issues and when they seem to consistently target a certain member?

Say what? I'm expressing my opinion - that by default, a member should be given a warning prior to a suspension, except when they repeatedly violate the same TOS within a certain time frame.

Sorry, another question. Was there some sort of major issue that occurred recently that this is in response too? I'm noticing that P&R/OT has been much much quieter in the last 24 hrs as if there was some sort of mass suspension.

By the time it gets this serious you can rest assured that the individuals involved are well aware of their indiscretions and have been warned many, many times by all members of the moderation team, not just one in particular. They have had a number of suspensions - often increasingly longer ones - and have refused to modify their posting behaviour in spite of warnings and suspensions. This is very much a last chance option prior to a complete suspension of their account. This is for serious, habitual abuse, whether instigating or in response.
