Btw, I have some seaweed for sale, it's an excellent weather prophetic. :)

Michael Fish ... Superstar

That night, Southern England was trashed by ... you guessed it ... a hurricane force storm that crossed the Channel from Northern France

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

A "negative Arctic Oscillation' system to blame for the current (and last year's) cold weather across most of US and Europe. Interestingly enough, there are places in Canada, Greenland and parts of the Arctic that are experiencing unseasonable highs. Here is a good visual indication of the temperature discrepancies from NASA: http://earthobservat...80&src=eoa-iotd

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

You're forgetting one crucial factor, weather is local, climate is regional and in terms of man made global warming global. The mean temperature globally has been steadily increasing and that's a fact.

No, it is not a fact. The warmest year on record was 1998. Since then that temp has not been surpassed. If the temps haven't gotten warmer in 12 years how can you say they have been "steadily increasing"? That is the fact.

Shhhh! Don't bring facts into the discussion. They have no ideas then what they have been told to think and right now the buzz words are, "global warming' and until the think tank comes up with new buzz words that is all they are allowed to say.good.gif

Reading about this guy, I see quite a bit of criticism. Not of his credentials, he has a degree in physics and an advanced degree in astro physics from reputable institutions. The criticism is two fold. First, there seems to be some griping about his methodology. He refuses to discuss it, with anyone, so there is no verifying of any scientific methods. Secondly, there seems to be quite a few people who say that his predictions are much like that of a fortune teller, vague and general enough that where an optimistic assessor would find merit, but a critical assessor would find fault.

Agreed.

I wasn't attacking or supporting. The OP is bereft of many important details and thus I did a quick search about the guy. What I find odd about his predictions is similar to what others have complained about him, he lacks any detail.

Agree again....am I a toady? Yikes!

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

You know something that NASA doesn't? Maybe you should offer your services to them.

2005 Warmest Year in Over a Century

01.24.06

The year 2005 was the warmest year in over a century, according to NASA scientists studying temperature data from around the world.

from big dog's link:

Some other research groups that study climate change rank 2005 as the second warmest year, based on comparisons through November.

so 2005 is debatable.

Devil is in the details. Global Man Temp is not only tropospheric temp ( air temp) but other variables like SST. Like the GW debate and whatever the resulting conclusions drawn are afftected by which data is included. The NASA study cited includes the Arctic, I think.
