What about the incredible nice smell of shampoo and conditioner? I am famous for having really nice scented hair. :P

Can't say I miss the smell of shampoos, my hair doesn't stink and am still using the conditioners and styling products, so the scent is still there just not the goopy buildup and dryness that shampoo causes.

Ok, so the no-poo method includes conditioner, I see. I think I could not NOT use shampoo. :P

Shampoo removes the natural hair grease, and then you add nice scented grease with the conditioner. :P

You can try the no-poo method for a while, but eventually you have to poo, otherwise

your belly swells up creating a lot of pressure in the abdominal cavity and unhappy

organs everywhere...

OK, so I've been experimenting with some new ideas & want to hear how the no-pooers are doing!

This just sounded appealing, but it's an advanced technique. ;)

Mix water, conditioner and a wad of sea salt in a spray bottle. Apply to wet or dry. Gives an interesting effect, can be a little sticky. Recommended only for the curliest gurls, tho I read it in Glamour or somthing similar as a 'surfer girl' look for straighties. Proceed with caution or on a weekend.

When we were in Mexico, I was in and out of the sea all day and worse, hanging out with all the scuba boys and never having time to get fixed up before we ran out for tacos or BBQ etc (IOW, extremely non-glam). But, I HAD to do something on the quick--couldn't just go out with naked hair. So I started just slathering regular conditioner in semi damp hair.

I really liked the result!

So, I've been using my regular old Herbal Essence conditioner as a styling product and really liking it. Again, for the very curly who always need more moisture. Gives me bouncy clumpy curls that stay very soft. Not at all sticky, and not greasy looking at the roots.

Now tell me, are the $10 microfiber towels worth it? Winter is coming, and my hair takes too long to dry naturally with much product in it--thought one of those towels would come in handy.

I haven't gone completely no-poo, as I work out too much to feel comfortable without it, but I usually go every other day or so in the cooler months.

Been using Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap as a shampoo lately. Seems to be working great. VO5 for conditioning as it's cheap, and the occasional apple cider vinegar rinse (smells awful though.)

I alternate between low-poo and No-poo

When I first heard about no-pooing I had the same reaction as others did...but it actually works well for me. You can clarify your hair with baking soda, and it won't strip it of moisture like those harsh detergents. Here are some interesting forums for you to check out. They also have recipes, for those kitchen-ticians :D

I've cut way back on the shampoo and surprisingly my hair seems to love it. I shampoo with a tiny bit of diluted shampoo once a week, and wash with conditioner whenever my hair seems to need it. I bought a sample pack of very expensive all-natural non-sulfate baby shampoo and conditioner but after trying them they don't work well enough to be worth the money. My regular el-cheapo Suave conditioner works just fine all by itself...

I need a microfibre towel too... I've been using an old t-shirt to dry my hair and it works okay but the turban tends to fall off my head :(

The no poo method has worked very well for me. My hair looks just like it did when washed everyday. My current roadblock is the styling products. I am not curly at all, and barely wavy. Kinda like flat. I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE my manipulating wax, sigh,,, has cones. Any suggestions?

I also have altered my dyeing as well. I have switched to henna & indigo dye, and so far so good! I am achieving a lovely rich chestnut brown color, its very lush looking. Anyone else considered it?
