Why is "at large" the wrong term?

Because people from the north might think they're "larging it up" ;)

Is that British humor? I don't get it

It a northern phrase for what the southern folks refer to as "going on a bender"

Lived there three years and never once heard that, lol

Living in or near Chav towns you tend to pick up the lingo.

there are plenty of chavs in the city centre, but I pay them no mind.

THIS is a hilarious story tho...

two of my young friends are walking down the street. Two lads...one really tall and meaty (not fat, just solid, yanno?) and one short and thin. They walk past two chavs who say to the tall one:

Giz a tab or we'll hit your m8

hahahha priceless!

But yeah, never heard 'livin it large' for a nite out. Hear 'bigging it up' for like making summat really swish- rolling out all the stops or bragging...but never 'livin it large'

If you're a clueless American like me, I did your googling for you:

never "living it large" always "having it large" or simply "largin' it"

It's what you do when you go to Ibiza

I never figured out why people go to anglicised mediterranean holiday resorts just to do what they do on a weekend anyway. Shows a massive lack of imagination IMO.

I know people who go to Miami and spend their time clubbing. They go to Vegas and spend their time clubbing. They'll even go to London and spend their time clubbing.

When they're home right here in the NYC metro area... they go clubbing. Why go anywhere if all you're going to do is go clubbing?

maybe they should open their own club and save the travel expenses?

haha yeah why not? I have a friend who spent 3 days in Miami and never even set foot on the beach. Never mind a drive out to the Glades to check out the gators lol. Just clubs and bars. Like ya don't get wasted enough at home.

maybe they're just checkin to make sure buttweiser is true to their adverts... "At this very second on either side of the US... an ice-cold butt-light is being pored.. made from the same stupendously fantabulous recipe! Go! Drink one tonight and see!"

The PC term for american indians is native americans. No one I know says Indians anymore, this was a result of mistaken identity on the part of Christopher Colombus.

I find this amazing too, you know. Christopher Columbus comes to America in 1492. I'd have to say at the most by 1493 he and his crew figured out they were NOT in India, however for 500 years the term "Indians" stuck for the native Americans. Only very recently have we begun to phase that term out. #######??

If you go to Vegas and go clubbing then you are missing the whole point of Vegas! What a loss!
