Had Interview - Reponse: "We will be in touch"

After 9 months of processing, my wife (Israeli citizen) finally had her CR1 immigration visa interview this morning at the US Consulate in Jerusalem. The interview was very cold and mechanical, but my wife answered all the CO's questions as best she could. There was not any attention paid to the documentation or photos. Some answers were better than others and at the end, the CO just said, "OK, you're finished," and took my wife's passport.

My wife asked "What should I tell my husband?" The CO only replied, "I will keep in touch with you." I would have thought the CO would have either said "You're approved" or "You're rejected."

My wife did NOT receive any Refusal Letter at the interview, but she also didn't go to the SHAAL Courier Service to pay for the passport to be returned. I might assume taking her passport was a good sign, but I'm not certain.

Has anyone gone through this process? Can you confirm if she should have received the Refusal Letter if she was refused? Did people who were approved have to go to the SHAAL Courier Service to pay for shipping?

I'm not sure what to tell you but, you can call/email the embassy, if you don't get any reply from them than you can call the DOS Hot line, and get a human and ask them about your case status.

It is a very good sign that they kept her passport. They wouldn't have kept it if they didn't want to put something in it, like a visa.

Certain countires require more advanced background checks before the visa can be issued. I suggest calling the consulate and speaking to a supervisor

Good luck.

One of the 'magic questions' close to the end of the interview -

'Will I be put on AP ? '

You, as the USC Spouse, can call into DoS Hotline (# in my profile) , get a human, and inquire for case status.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

This precise thing happened to my husband ("We will let you know."), but we are in Finland and did DCF. He got his visa today, no problems.

I received this email response from the Jerusalem Consulate. I imagine this means I'm in AP.

Dear Sir;

Your wife’s case is currently being processed for adjudication. Once the visa is issued, we will send it with shaal courier services.

Sincerely,

Immigrant visa unit

UPDATE: So I called the DOS Hotline this morning and the woman told me that the Visa was approved yesterday. I'm assuming the AP is finished but I know some people get told they're "approved" at the interview and then get tossed into AP, so I'm not counting my chickens yet! Crossing fingers and still praying.
