Sounds like the AP was just a matter of putting the visa in the passport...

What's an AP ?

Like OBX mentions, is 'Administrative Processing' .

Sadly, AP can occur at each stage of this process - see http://www.usaimmigrationattorney.com/SecurityNameChecksAndAdministrativeReview.html

for all of the checks done on the petitioner and beneficiary.

Good Luck !

Yup, that's an AP. Should not be a surprise given the country of origin.

Hopefully, it's a short one.

Hi, this thread is a bit old, but I am wondering, what do you mean by this exactly "not surprising given the country of origin?" Does the US tend to treat Israelis poorly, or are you just making conjectures? Curious. Thanks.

Not Israel specific. MENA (Middle East, North Africa) countries all have additional checks. Also, I heard that Russian nationals also have additional checks.

I'm neither making conjectures, nor is it a question of the U.S. 'treating Israelis poorly.'

Applicants from certain parts of the world (MENA countries, T countries, politically unstable countries etc.) are subject to greater scrutiny in terms of name/security/background clearance checks.

Hmm, despite its geographic location, I would have thought it would not be included in such a list. It's not included on the US Dept of State "additional processing" at the borders. There is also a Visa Waiver Program in the works (granted, from what I understand, it's been in the works a while). Can someone link me to something concrete? Thanks.

I doubt the US would put anything so politically volatile in any official US DoS documents. Regardless of what should/should not be, if Visa Journey personal timelines are of any indication, only 1 couple received a visa in less than a week. The rest have waited months AFTER being "approved" at the interview.

Well, they did publish this list accidentally a few months ago, and yes, it was a big blunder. I will look for a link, so you can read all about the US didn't understand how PDFs work :) Thanks for the info on VJ timelines.
