lol...I can see you gulping at the DL.....funny....I told mine when he gets here He can't drive my car anytime soon.....smiles

Woohoo!

We're at 2 weeks and 2 days, so we qualify for 'happy beginnings'/'honeymooner's award if anything. We're both still a little surprised to see each other every morning and just dwell in each other's presence

He has his SS card and is working on getting the driver's license... gulp!

Please keep us in your prayers Sub-Saharan family.

Checking in- My husband joined me in the states in March 2011. We got married May 20, 2011. It has not quite been a year yet since he arrived. We are progressing but we still have some ways to go to get to where we want to be. He is still adjusting to the change of environment. He really miss the free style life of Ghana. My husband got his work permit in August and just found a seasonal job for the holidays. Hopefully they will keep him after. It been a little complicated far as transportation. He did not come with his license and the rules to obtain 1 in MD is Daunting. After about 6 months we got a letter that his Greencard is approved so that is a blessing. My husband is very independent so with all the rules and restriction with the immigration process has left him feeling a little dependent and stuck Now that his GC is on the way he can now start the process of getting a drivers license. He can now at least get a driver permit and start applying to Universities so he can complete his degree. I believe all things are falling into place and in a matter of time all shall be well. We also have out first baby on the way in March 2012. Due close around the time he arrived this past March. We are really excited about our little princess joining us soon. I will check back soon! Happy Thanksgiving!

Thrilled to finally add our happy ending - or beginning I guess I should say! :) My husbands fiance visa was approved early this year, a bit less than one year after we began the visa process. I went back to Malawi in April and he came back here to the states with me the first week of May. We married July 1, and his GC was approved 9 weeks later. He is adjusting well here - attending school part time, working part time, learning to drive, no complaints about the food, etc. We are also expecting a baby boy at the end of February/early March! Couldn't be happier right now! :D

Well, guys! One more piece of good news to add to this topic! My Seyi arrived here in February 2011 and just got his New York State Certification to teach High School Earth//Environmental Science (after passing 4 grueling state exams)! He's working part-time at 2 different jobs to bring in money and is now looking for a permanent teaching job. We too are expecting our first child in June 2012 (6/6/12)!!!

Congrats to all the Sub-Saharan babies born and being born soon! When they are older, we can share the story of all the sacrifices we made to be together so that they could be here!
