I thought I would add our happy "middle" (because it's not an end). My husband and I have been married for two years now. Our first two years of marriage have been relatively easy. I was braced for it to be HARD, because I remember how hard culture shock was for me when I first lived in Africa, and expected it to be as hard for him, with the added struggles of adjusting to be newly married. Allan got a job as soon as he could, and has actively made choices to become the provider for the family, he recently decided to join the army, which scares me a little, but I am still very proud of the decision.

Of course every marriage has it's rough days, but over all I still feel so very blessed to have him in my life.

It's been awhile since I've posted anything on Visa Journey. I've been meaning for months now to come and post my comments in this topic but I figured that before I jump the gun, I'm going to wait 3 months after hubby's POE and THEN post! :)

So now it's been over 3 months since his arrival and we are getting down to the business of building our lives together. These past few months have definitely been a roller-coaster of emotions, adjustments, compromise and discussions. Despite the challenges, my husband has shown himself to be a responsible, hard-working and patient man. Took him awhile to find a job and although he's not doing exactly what he wants to be doing and what he's been trained for professionally, he's still holding 2 jobs and always looking for something better. He's thoughtful, caring and has eased my burden considerably. My kids really like him and so does everyone that meets him. I definitely consider myself one of the luckiest women ever (and he's lucky too!) and I hope that we can keep it going this way. I'm so happy that I persevered through 2 petitions to get him here. It was well worth it.

One piece of advice I'd like to offer - NEVER forget where you're both coming from and what it took for you both to get to this point; always respect the cultural differences and let them work for the benefit of the relationship. Let this advice be your watchword and guide you through the turbulent early days of adjustments to living together. Good luck to all of you that are still waiting for their spouses/fiances...I wish you all as much peace and happiness as Seyi and I have.

How wonderful it is to hear once all this visa journey is over with there is a happy ending,at least for most of us. Thanks for the update. Wishing both of you happiness and success. So glad things are working out for you and your husband. Most of all, I am happy the transition has not been extremely difficult

Best of luck!
