Hi

So I was waiting to have a successful POE before sharing my expirence with everybody.

So after 14 months my I-130 was approved. NVC was pretty fast and I had my interview scheduled for October 29th in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Interview went fine. I was just asked few standard questions, like where and when I met my wife, how I proposed to her and what did attract me in her. Also asked me about my previous stays in the USA and if I had any problems with law during those stays. He didn't seems really care about those questions, but it was just a standard procedure from what I understand. He was taking notes on everything I was saying.

Then he asked if I used any different name or had a brother in the states, which I didn't. He said there was exactly same person with the same name and I think same date of birth. I guess that's what caused the 6 months long FBI name check. Well after asking all the questions he said everything was ok and I could pick up my visa the next day.

POE in Atlanta was smooth as well. They took me to the green room. Took the envelop. Didn't ask a single question. Just fingerprints and signature for GC. Then the lady told me it will take 3-6 month for GC to arrive, but also added that it usually takes much less than that. I was out of there in like 10 mins.

I would like to thank everybody in this forum for your assistance and support during my immigration. Don't know what I would do with out you guys.

04/04/2009. Approved!! Received letter. Case status online didn't change.

NVC:

04/17/2009. Case number received.

04/22/2009. DS-3032 and AOS bill generated.

04/28/2009. Emailed DS-3032

05/04/2009. Paid AOS bill online.

05/07/2009. DS-3032 accepted.

06/23/2009. AOS mailed received by NVC on 06/26/2009

06/25/2009. Mailed DS-230 package form Azerbaijan received by NVC on 06/30/2009

07/09/2009. False RFE (ds-230 wasn't in the system yet)

07/14/2009. Case Completed!!!

07/30/2009. Got the interview date.

08/27/2009. Medical Passed.

09/29/2009. Interview Passed.

09/30/2009. Visa issued.

10/25/2009. POE Atlanta, Georgia

11/07/2009. 10 year Green Card received!!!!

Who decides the point of entry? And how do you know where to go? I bought tickets to chicago and idk if we will be stopped or not?

The ticket purchaser decides the POE.

Everyone is stopped at a POE - you WILL BE STOPPED - could vary from 5 minutes to 4 hours - depending...

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

well I am not sure if it makes any differences which POE you choose. In my case my wife is from Alabama close to Georgia border, so Atlanta airport was the closest POE for me.

sachinky - it's only wise to purchase tickets after the visa is in hand. SO MUCH can happen after the interview. Once Canadian poster had a successful interview but had major errors on the visa once it was issued. The entire thing took weeks to clear up
