Zidane apparently called "Dirty Terrorist"

We all know it was a shamful act and MAYBE it cost a worldcup to France.

the question is going to be: What the hell did Materazzi say or do? Was it about your mother?

In that case, I'll give Zidane a tip for next time. Tell a 'your mother is so fat joke'. It should work like a charm. Especially on an Italian. 'Cause, you know...

It doesn`t matter what Materazzi said, people don`t get that. There are milions of more or less offensive things that players allover the world tell each other during games, but a player that lose their temper like Zidane in a World Cup final and attack in THE WAY he did it (headbutting someone`s chest like that can be real dangerous) is a loser.Zidane proved to be :dead:

No. Trash talking is a harmless part of sport. Physically attacking another player who is not expecting it is dangerous and uncalled for.

trash talking - fine...but I'd say he took it TOO FAR.

Ok, maybe it was too far if this was office banter, but this is sports. Materazzi was probably trying to provoke just such a reaction. Not to mention that we're talking about professional athletes here, not teenagers. Zidane should have shrugged it off and come out the better man. Instead he took the bait and obviously came out worse.

either way you slice it, it's still unprofessional behavior by supposedly professional athletes

but hey, we're used to that in the usa!

I am not trying to defend the Italian player, (even if I`m a fan of Italian soccer) tho he didn`t headbutt anybody. I was just very disappointed of how a player like Zidane could attack like that..he`s known for his temper but in all these years of experience he probably knows,or at least I thought he knew you don`t do that when you are a superstar soccer player at the end of your career in a game like a World Cup final when a billion people are watching you. It`s not in the spirit of soccer. It was an insult to the soccer world. It was a stupid thing to do.

my point exactly... Materazzi shouldnt be surprised that he got a reaction, since he was obviously going for it... its all a gamble... you pay your quarter and take your chances...

sports should be about who is best athletically... not who can hurl insults and who responds

i wont defend either of them... not anymore than i will defend the divers who have dreams of oscars in their heads

Materazzi was probably at him all game, Zidane is know to have a short fuse.

He retired after the World Cup, that was going to be his last game of football no matter what. He has confirmed his retirement.

There was amusing discussion on my local AM radio, revolved around how Materazzi must have learnt a selection of wind ups in French!?.

It would have been like Dwyane Wade head butting Dirk Nowitzki in the NBA finals and letting Dallas win the game/series.

You just don't loose your cool like that, especially if you are the MVP of the World Cup.

He should have waited until afterwards when they were exchanging jerseys, and clocked him with his jersey half way down!!!! ;):P:lol: j/k!!!!

 I've not read anyone say it was the right thing to do.... People react and stupidly all the time, but sometimes it's understandable where a reaction comes from.

Never said something or done something in the heat of the moment that you wouldn't normally? I'd like to meet the perfect person who can claim that.
