Hi ALL

I got my Green Card on 27th June without interview. I took a chance and left for India on AP with the knowledge that I may have to rush back to USA for

interview. Had two RFEs and that delayed the process by 25 days. Overall time - filed on 14th Feb and GC on 27th June. Oh yes, I was on K1, btw.

I have updated my timeline as best as my memory would permit. Will do it again when I get back home.

I will be returning to USA on AP document as the GC is with my wife (USC) back home in USA. Have not laid my eyes on GC as yet :blush:

Finally, I won't have to worry about immigration and status for 1 year 9 months - feels good eh :whistle:

Right from the start to this day, I got all the info from this site only and did not spend a penny on anything else !

Congrats!! How lucky for you since you are out of the country. Filed all the paperwork for AOS, EAD and AP early June. If you have time do you mind mentioning what the RFE were for...if not enjoy the rest of your trip and enjoy your GC.

03/13/08 - I filed for Citizenship

07/22/08 - Became US Citizen

08/02/08 - I-129F sent

08/13/08 - Case received by VSC

08/16/08 - NOA1

08/18/08 - Touched

12/18/08 - Touched again exactly 4 mos. after 1st touch!

12/18/08 - Noa2 @ 3PM-Gracias Dios Mio!

12/24/08 - NVC sent pckg. 3 to Embassy

01/02/09 - Pckg 3 rcvd. by Embassy

01/09/09 - Pckg 3 from Embassy received by beneficiary

02/09/09 - Medical exam

02/16/09 - Sent back checklist and docs required by embassy.

03/25/09 - Visa on hand! he went to DHL office after phone call received.

04/20/09 - We applied for marriage licence. (Township Municipal Bldg Health Dept.)

04/23/09 - Licence on hand

04/29/09 - Applied for Social Security (He was in system!)

04/30/09 - Wedding day!!! Yeeebaa

05/07/09 - SS card in mail. "valid for work only with DHS authorization"

05/13/09 - Sent AOS paperwork.

06/16/09 - Biometrics Apptmt.

06/25/09 - EAD Card in mail!

06/26/09 - Letter saying case transfered to Cali.

08/08/09 - Residence Card in Mail! Yuuupiiiiiii.

THE END FOR 2 MORE YEARS.

Congrats.

One little problem that you may encounter... your AP document is no longer valid. Once the GC was approved the EAD and AP become void. I'd have to think that if you explained the situation (you were approved while out of the country), that they would let you back in with the AP.

You may also think about having your wife FEDEX you the GC in the MOST SECURE way possible to avoid any problems because you never know.

Well, do they have any way to know that I got the GC at the port of entry ? I will enter on AP itself as its risky to mail it.

Maybe somebody will shed light on this ? with similar experience !

it was for birth certificate. And her income - she was living in India for two years so it was all chaotic.

So, she had to send a letter by her employer about her work prospects etc. and immediate six months of pay stubs (maybe more, dont remember).
