K-1 Visa approved today at the Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela! This site has helped us so much, and I am grateful for being able to get my questions answered here. hmmm.....I thought the immigration attorney would do that!!!! hahahahaha....NO!

We really had a good experience with everything, no delays...and everything was complete from beginning to end in 6 1/2 months. We will be referring to this site often as we move to the next step after we get married next month.

One thing I wanted to mention was that my fiance did notice that the officers really appreciated when he spoke English. It seemed as though they looked at it as being respectful, and even when they asked him questions in Spanish, he responded in English until they ended up just having a nice conversation in a language the officers were familiar with.

Also, while he was there for his interview, he saw several people get turned away for not having appropriate paperwork. He was able to hear them talking to the officers obviously, and he couldn't believe some of the disrespect that these people showed. While he was waiting, he even heard people referring to the officers as "racist gringos" and a whole mess of things. Neither of us had any idea the volume of people these officers deal with on a daily basis and the absolute morons they come into contact with. It was as though they truly appreciated just some plain old courtesy and the respect of calling them "sir" or "miss".

If anyone has any questions about the interview process in Caracas, feel free to ask. For now, I need to buy a dress!!!! LOL WOOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

You would be surprised at how well calling people "sir" and "miss" works!

I have done it almost all of my life and I can tell you there were more times it helped than hurt ;)

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
