Well, I called them last night around 10pm, and they said he's in critical condition, not doing very well at all. Then later, about 11:10 or so, they called us back and said we should come to see him, because he's not recovering as well as they would have liked. So, off we went.

We got there and they showed us back and he's all wrapped up around the middle where they opened him, he's got 2 IVs in him, one fluids and anti-biotics, and one morphine drip. Plus wires for the heart, breathing, and blood pressure monitors. AND a drainage bag to get all the infection out. He's totally unconscious from sedatives and the morphine, so not suffering. While we were there his heart rate was coming back down to normal levels, which was a good sign.

Pretty much his whole insides is infected from the ulcer having perforated.

They don't have a crate big enough for him, so he's on a mat on the floor, and I just lied down on the floor next to him for about an hour just petting his head and telling him he has to come home soon.

They said we should call back later this morning after shift change. The doctor last night said they would be trying to lighten some of the sedatives to see how he reacts.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

To Blessed to be stressed:) I realize that all things have a purpose and a time.....have faith and the Lord Almighty will provide... when the time is right, he NEVER fails!

Ok, here is this evening's update.

We just got back a little while ago from a very quick visit. In the evening's they only allow 15 minutes. boo.

Early this morning they changed his dressings, and his insides are all still full of black goo (his abdomen is open so it can drain, and just stuffed with bandages and wrapped so his innards don't fall out). They can't close him up until the black goo is all gone, and the ulcer is done draining. So they can't wake him up until that happens. Once it is cleared up, they can take him back into surgery and close him up.

This afternoon he got a plasma transfusion to try and fatten up his blood, but they won't know for a few more hours how that is progressing.

He is making poo and pee on his own, which is good, but they're still cautious. His urine is clearer than it was last night, but still not perfect, and there is blood in the stools (sorry, gross)

They said if he gets to come home at all, it will be a very long time from now! Definitely not this week, maybe not next week either. We just have to wait and see.

Thank you everybody for your prayers and support, I'm sure it is helping Bruno, and it's helping me keep it all together just a slight bit better!

They called at around 2:20am to say he'd stopped breathing. They tried to resucitate him but he's gone.
