I REALLY REALLY REALLY need to hear some good news. I am terrified of Homeland Security and the power they have over my future. I've been reading a lot of fear and failure. NOW I want to hear some SUPER success stories. I want to hear from the people that sat TERRIFIED and lost weight and sleep worrying over suspected LEGITIMATE reasons for denial, only to find that they over reacted and everything turned out fine. I REALLY need to hear those stories right now!

Kara, best of luck. Many of us on here have overcome adversity with the USCIS. You can do it. Just breathe it out, put it in God's hands, and make sure you follow all directions on any forms.

I feel the same way, Kara. I never feared my government before now, but all the horror stories are overwhelming. Anyone, please, tell us a beautiful story.

Kara, if you think of all the possible horrible things that could go wrong all at once, you are going to make yourself go crazy! Just try to stay positive, no matter how frustrated you may get.

I have found that VJ has been both a blessing and a curse: it's great because it helps answer questions I have about the process, but at the same time it's horrible because I sometimes find myself reading endlessly through threads about horror stories and all sorts of other things that incite unnecessary worry over things that I can't control, exhausting myself and putting myself into a depressed mood.

If you find yourself getting too wrapped up in all the stories on here, take a break! Step by step, one thing at a time. Don't spend all your time worrying. Take care of the things that need addressing right away, and do the other little things a little bit at a time. In the meantime, keep yourself busy with hobbies, friends, work, etc. away from the computer. It will make the time go faster. We're still waiting for NOA2, which could be a few months still, so I'm just actively trying to address the "have-to's", staying connected with my fiance, but keeping a sense of myself and that I have a life here that shouldn't revolve around all the "what-if's". It's hard sometimes, but I have to remind myself that this too shall pass.

It will all work out. Like Staashi said, breathe it out and put it in God's hands.

Kara,

I'd highly recommend that you read up as much information as you can which will help calm a lot of your fears and anxiety. Either that, or consult with an immigration attorney.

Not a beautiful story but how 'bout this:

Just last night Chris and I were sitting outside and looking up at the stars. Just sitting quietly. Not much to discuss about the day as there were no particular exciting points. We both looked at each other and started to say something. I told him to go first.

He said "Its been a crazy year."

I said "That's what I was going to say. It felt like this was never going to happen and we'd pass another Christmas an ocean apart."

And there we were. Sitting on the outdoor patio that we had constructed together over the past several weeks. Sitting on the furniture that we picked out a couple months earlier at Home Depot. Enjoying the wine that we been waiting to open.

Things will come, and with the occasional obstacle too. But you'll both make it. And the wine will taste even sweeter. Be as knowledgeable as you can about the process but don't dwell on what has happened to others. That's their story and their journey. Yours will be its own.

Thanks for that! I'm praying with ALL of my might that that will be us as well one day. I think I'm going to have to focus on planning another quick visit to Scotland. LOL

I was in your boat...over 4 years ago. The part I bolded got to me the most! I didn't lose weight though. hehe. Didn't gain really either. But I would worry sometimes.

I don't think you have ANYTHING to worry about unless there are some big issues that would make them go "hmmmm". My husband is from India, and when we were going through our K1 visa there were not that many couples on VJ dealing with India, let alone many mixed couples dealing with India. I felt like I didn't have a lot of resources for experiences for our kind of case. I didn't like the feeling of the visa granting being out of our hands. We knew we were legit. But still you can't help wondering what the officers at the interviews will think. We felt we had no red flags, but still, you can't relax about it sometimes hehe. Thankfully my husband's(then fiance's) interview went as smooth as butter. What a relief! And I sit here over 4 years later to tell you the SUCCESSFUL tale. :) Before his arrival to the US on his K1 visa, we had been separated 11 months so imagine the anxiety of waiting all that time.

If you follow the rules, fill out the forms correctly, I don't see why you would have any problems especially when your SO is coming from the UK. Good luck!
