Women=Crazy

Here is my story. I've lived problem free life, payed my taxes. One day I decided to marry this girl. But to do so would require her to come to US of A, and so it started. My problem free live turned in to free problems from USCIS! Sure things turned to unsure, certain dates turned to aproximation within months. All logical thinking was out the door, as I filed my papers withing famous Vermont Centre!

i think MIL's get a bad rap... not all MIL's are evil witches...

my mom's MIL was.. she hated my mom for some reason... and some of that rubbed off on us kids... we were clearly not on her favourite list...

families are so complicated! my fil's mil wasn't fond of him, i'm sure that played a part in why my fil was so overly protective of his son and why we didn't get along so well. that is often what the problem is, they are just trying to protect their child.

Took me two tries, but not only got a wonderful wife, but a wonderful mother-in-law too. They must come in pairs. Couldn't please the first pair whatever I did, if you don't succeed the first time, try again. Like father, like son? Like mother, like daughter? But what about like mother, like son? Did you take her son away from her mommy? Shame on you.

I didn't see my #1.....pray a hurricane sweeps her out to sea.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

yeah, i never had a mil (she died many years ago :( ) so my fil played both roles which was rather complicated.

taking away his only child (and family) really wasn't something he took too easily, plus he wanted to protect his son from potentially being hurt. we got into a stupid argument one day and stopped talking. he died shortly afterward, before we got to tell him we planned on getting married. i regret that entire situation now, although at the time you couldn't have told me any different.

i'm glad that we don't have these problems to deal with on my side of the family, they all seem to like each other. i'm glad you have found that with your wife and family and *marilyn* you too, we are all proof that the mil horror stories aren't always true. :)

My MIL is very easy for ME to please, but my husband can't ever do anything right which ticks me off! It's kinda the opposite of what most people have... Anything he does is because of me, not because he worked hard and did it. You'd think she'd be more proud of her son... Hmmmm.

Mother in law's are hard to please not because they're mil's its because they're WOMEN.

why do you hate women ?

Did I say I hated women?

No. I am a woman.

However I do believe that the lot of us are hard to please and can be pretty nutty at times.

Here are my 37 Ways to Deal with Mother-in-law:

1. Be respectful to her

2. Be polite when talking to her

3. Be sensitive to her different needs

4. Be sensitive to her emotional changes (she may be going through menopause)

5. Be aware of her sense of loss of a daughter

6. Bring her out once in two weeks

7. Take her to her favourite restuarant

8. Remember her birthday

9. Send her gifts that she really like

10. Remember her wedding annivesary

11. Build rapport with father-in-law (backup just in case)

12. Be a good boy infront of both parents-in-laws

13. Remember your father-in-law’s birthday (though most of the times he doesn’t bother)

14. Remember your mother-in-laws’ important dates that matter to her

15. Find out her interest

16. If you have lots of free time, join a course with her (e.g. cooking class)

17. Treat her to dinner once in a while

18. Initiate family lunch

19. Be nice to your sister-in-law (as well as brother-in-law) so that you can hear more about her “secrets” and things to note

20. Turn up early for family dinner to help in kitchen

21. Volunteer to wash the dishes

22. Bring in extra food (meant to be surprises)

23. You got to know what she likes to eat

24. Sing praises about how hard she cooks in front of family members

25. Deshell the prawns and crabs before giving to her

26. Get food for her even though she said it is full

27. Still get gifts for her even though she said “it is a waste of money”

28. Don’t touch her possessions

29. Ask for permission if you want

30. Be genuine in your curiosity and encourage her to share with you about her history

31. Call her when she is unwell

32. Offer to take her to the doctor

33. Offer to run errands for her

34. Call back at meal times to check if she has eaten

35. Do ask her if she wants to visit any particular place during the weeekend

36. Offer to drive her around

37. Buy her mooncakes during Lantern Festival

38. Your method?
