Hello everyone,

I'm new on this site, but I have been playing the waiting game along with you all, after filing the K-1 petition in mid-June. Here's my question: on the USCIS website, their processing times estimates say that they're finally processing petitions from February 1 2008, which was about 250 days ago. Does that mean they're just opening those files or that they're finishing up the whole deal for those folks? To confuse me more, VJ posts different info. It estimates CSC processing times for K-1 as 138 days. Why the difference?

Thank you!

ap

Every single one of our (mine which was K-1 and my daughter which was K-2) cases were processed much faster than the dates on the USCIS website, right from the start of the process up until my own naturalization and my daughter's 10-yr GC. The dates are only a very rough estimate.

It depends on the IO. I got my noa2 after over 7months. Absolutely out of processing time. My husband had to call up USCIS so many times and did even make infopass. None of them helped. So he contacted a congressman. Before the congressman take any action, we got noa2.

USCIS processing time is not very accurate. But, individual case is different and a lot of IOs are super slow or cannot even process paper work based on receipt dates.

How it was explained in another post was that the date on the USCIS website indicates the oldest applications they are currently working on.

For example, they might be working on Feb., March, April, and May 2008 right now. So they would have "February 2008" on the website to indicate that is the oldest, not the most recent one, they are working on.

So if someone got NOA1 in December 2007 and still have not heard from USCIS, that person would want to contact them, since according to their site all Dec. '07 applications would have been processed already.

All the best.

Pete

All the people who are saying that it happens faster than expected are missing a key point: your cases started a long time ago. 2003-2004, 2006. The number of cases that USCIS got last year was a MILLION more than those filed the year before. (Though that's the total number of cases; it would be good to figure out how many of those were I-129f s.)

I've recently spoken to three agents who've all told me the same thing; 7 month wait, THEN they process. (I filed a month ago.)

It's absurd. The whole point of a K1 is an expedited process. I'm moving back to China and we can deal with this nonsense together. I just wish I had figured out that the K1 was going to take a year before I spent so much time getting situated in the States.

The wait isn't taking 7 months. Of course someone from the USCIS is going to tell you that - if they tell you about 4 months and your app takes 7 months, they could be in a lot of trouble. BUT if they tell you 7 months, and it really takes 4 months, then they are put into a better light. Visajourney's info regarding processing times and what they are actually working on is much more accurate. The people at CSC and VSC are paid to tell you a certain thing.

I base my predictions on Igor's List. http://cse.ssl.berkeley.edu/igor/vjdata/ There are people in Feb, March, April, May, and June getting approved. It really depends on the individual case as far as when a person is approved.. but I would say for California, a 4-5 month wait estimate is accurate right now.

At moment your looking at 4 -6 months, sadly it is longer if your from a high fraud country as it takes longer to the the background checks.

The lawyer that Chris spoke too before we filed said to us 4 -6months, at 6 months you want to be putting some pressure on them to discover what is happening.

Just thought it might be important to note that last years petitions were taking much longer because there was a fee hike and an influx of petitions. Also, from several centers processing K1's to just the two they are using now. 7 months was quick by last fall's standards for approvals...now it's more like 4. It's important to take that into consideration when looking at the timelines. ;)

VJ is a very accurate representation of approval times. That being said, every case is very different because there are any number of security issues that can hold you up along the way.

OP.. if you fill in your timeline you will be given a fairly accurate range of dates in which you may see your approval, based on others timelines.

good luck

Considering that if the USCIS was processing I-129F's in 45 days they will still report a date of 6 mos. Your choice now of which is more accurate.

It's very rare to get a I-129F processed in 45 days... without an expedite it's damn near impossible (I got an expedite & it took 44 days). Like I said & others have said approximately 4 months is common (maybe not the average, but probably the median).

Those were the days! Looks like the system worked well, right up until they fixed it..

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.
