You may remember my post a few weeks ago I have a 3 yrs old male cat and just (3 weeks ago) got a female kitten 4 months old.

Now some of the time they seem to be getting along fine, he allows her to eat his food and use his litter with very little problem. He is happy to go to sleep when she is around and for the most part everything is fine.

My concern is that he almost stalks her and then pounces on her, often when she doesnt see it coming. He pins her down and then bites her legs, belly etc (I dont know how hard he bites cos I usually break them up at this stage).

We still keep the kitten in the bedroom when we are at work and at night so that my old cat can have some peace.

I dont want to be the overprotector but I dont want my kitten to get hurt either. Am I just being paranoid is this normal cat behaviour.

He's playing and it's perfectly normal. You just need to be able to supervise and step in if things get too rough. It's good that you're keeping them separated while you're away but once she gets older and a little bigger you won't need to worry about that anymore :)

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

It's perfectly normal, he's playing and also making sure she knows he's the boss. It's up to them to decide who runs the house, so let them argue and fight over that because it has nothing to do with you. Once it's settled, they'll behave like regular cats.
